So far I have failed to finish triple twist badge because zwift crashes.
The video freezes in the zwift app, then the app shuts.
5 attempts now.
I have finished every other badge available apart from event only ones.
I thought it might be a blue tooth connection error with my laptop, so I have also tried using companion app to pair trainer, hrm and zwift play.
Closest I have got to finishing is 265m from the end.
Running on Ideapad ryzen 7. All drivers and other updates up to date.
There are a lot of reports of crashes and other problems on Ryzen systems with integrated Radeon graphics lately. Search the forum and you’ll find them. If you’ve tried installing the latest Radeon driver downloaded from AMD (not from Microsoft) and turned off video screenshots in Zwift settings, you may not be able to use that laptop until they fix it. There hasn’t been any public acknowledgement of the problem but it’s affecting a lot of people and it’s clear that they know about it.
Thank you for your reply, I have previously turned off video screenshots, and don’t have any background Onedrive or similar running as I couldn’t ride in Makuri world for a long time (starting around last winter?) and tried a lot of the suggestions to fix this at that time. That looked like a memory leak similar to what was described by lots of people on facebook and forums at the time, however around july/august? appeared fixed or to go away.
Amd updates didn’t fix the “makuri problem” for me previously.
This current problem appears only to affect triple twist route for me seemingly, and obviously only appeared when the recent expansion created the route.
Have updated drivers from the AMD site, and tried again. Another crash, at 20km. But zwift hangs, rather than dying completely now.
Maybe try the next oldest driver and see what happens. I have had to do that in the past to fix video issues. That’s why most video hardware companies leave up older versions. They just may work better for some software in some circumstances.
Crash today whilst riding with a pace partner.
Latest reply from Zwift is that my 8GB Ram laptop does not have enough memory.
Has it an integrated GPU? If yes, are less than 8 GB memory free.
I carefully looked at the minimum specs page yet again. And it says minimum and optimal ram is 8GB, nothing about the required free amount.
So are zwift saying they no longer support laptops with integrated graphics and 8GB fitted RAM?
Forums and social media would indicate only AMD Ryzen systems have these problems, hence it appears to be a bug for only these systems.
I agree the requirements are not perfectly clear. Is that 8GB number intended to be padded enough for laptops with integrated graphics to be usable, or is the requirement to have 8GB available to Windows? I have no idea. These laptops were all working until very recently despite having around 6GB available in most cases. They never worked very well but they didn’t crash. Plus there are a LOT of those laptops out there. It’s a very popular configuration and it’s not like they are ancient hardware. The app developers should be working inside a memory budget that allows owners of these machines to be customers.
Latest test using a different laptop amd ryzen 5 with 16GB Ram. crash/hang when attaching second monitor to HDMI output. (My laptop does this perfectly all the time)

From log file.
Second crash happened when I restarted, left the system loaded with everything attached (just like you do if you go into the pen early).
The 16GB laptop doesn’t work as well as the 8gb older yet faster processor one. RIders appear more jittery.
Just read in the 1.79 update thread that there is an issue with AMD systems, and no apparent official recognition of it. Weird, but it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be getting better anytime soon. Maybe buy an Apple TV for the interim? They seem to be a great Zwift box for many people.
That problem was acknowledged as a known issue recently
