If you’re on a PC, you can select the exact difficulty you train at using the prefs.xml file in your Zwift/Documents folder. I don’t think that file exists on the iPad and so I was hoping to find a way of setting it on the iPad. I do find it odd that Zwift haven’t implemented what would be a very simple fix by setting a value next to the slider in the settings so you can make it exact.
Sorry I meant on IPad or ATV that’s what I use for Zwift it is strange when Esports mention TD has to be set at 50% or higher.
See this thread for the Difficulty slider getting a numerical indicator - Can you make the trainer difficulty setting in the app show an actual value along with the crappy analog slider
Bump!
This would surely be a very easy update and as a Kickr Climb user, I can change my wheelbase dimensions on the Wahoo app to make sure the gradients I get on the Climb are accurate based on my difficulty, but I cannot do this without knowing the exact value of my trainer difficulty.
Please do this Zwift HQ!
It really shouldn’t be that hard to add a number besides the sliders!
I really wish Zwift HQ would start to aknowledge the growing userbase who cannot hack the prefs files and do these little fixes which would mean a lot to many of us.
That’s the way I understand it. If you’re on the flats the TD setting shouldn’t make any difference to the resistance/gearing. If you’re on a false flat, it might make a slight difference in the feel?
I use the trainer difficulty setting quite a bit. It really would be nice to have a numeric setting for this. That way you could keep track of the exact TD and the gear ratios used for a particular course.
C’mon Zwift it’s 2022! Putting the percentage on the slider or at least putting marks at 25% increments for IOS App users is way overdue. Especially for those of us that have to use the crappy Apple Remote to try and set the slider. Help us out and make your App much, much better.
Pretty sad that after 3 years for something super simple hasn’t been implemented.
Not sure if the slide bar is to add the cool factor but it’s frustrating. I never know if I am at 25% or 45% or whatever. I shared our setup w hubby and we don’t use the same setting. I have use a ruler to eye-ball the position and hope it’s the same as before. Maybe other people don’t care about difficulty setting precision but I like consistency in knowing how I am progressing towards using higher difficulty up hills. So, if you have some free time on your hands, can we either enter a number or slide one? In case other people like the cool slide interaction. Thx
There’s an existing request for this. ![]()
If you’re on PC/Mac it’s possible to specify the exact number via the prefs file, or by using the Zwift Hacks preferences tool. But yeah, no reason for it to not be in the game natively.
I assumed I wasn’t the only one interested but didn’t see a post for it. Thx. I wouldn’t know where to begin to do as you suggest but hacking files isn’t something I’m thrilled to do. So, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the request get put into one of the code Sprints. Thx
Here’s the tool anyway: zwift-preferences – ZwiftHacks
Thx. Maybe we’ll use that. I had pictured the files directory and Notepad++. Ugh. This looks better.
You can do it very easily with Notepad, it’s just a matter of changing a single value in a line, in a file that’s in your Documents folder rather than hidden away. But yeah the tool is obviously far more intuitive (and has other benefits of course).
See Can you make the trainer difficulty setting in the app show an actual value along with the crappy analog slider and add your Vote (button right at the top).
Not everyone is using a Mac/PC to ride on zwift. On my side it’s on my iPad pro and I struggle to know which difficulty is set precisely (especially after my wife changed it for her own purpose)…
I don’t work for Zwift.
Please ZHQ help us that use Apple TV … we are begging for help ![]()
I would value this (% on the slider; - and + button) much more than a extra generic route or extra bike.
