Tour de Zwift - more frequent

(Michael Love) #1

The Tour stages should take place more frequently (hourly instead of once every two hours). I usually have a tight window for starting my workouts (between work, children…). More frequent starts would give me a better opportunity to participate.

I dont quite understand when the Tour ride times start. Every 2 hours starting when???

(Michael Love) #3

They start at midnight tonight EST, then every two hours afterwards.

(Wes Salmon (Zwift HQ)) #4

The event times alternate after one day. One day they start every 2 hours on odd number hours, the next day they start on even number hours. Over 2 days each stage will have taken place every hour.

In addition, all events will be run again on the make up days after Stage 9 so you can catch up any that you may have missed.

Why is the TDZ not listed in the events section of the companion app?

(Godmother Fox) #6

I can see it there … starts every two hours … ios companion app on ipad

(Mark Wheeler) #7

So I can see the Tour de Zwift events on the app although I have only found (and signed up to) Stage 1 then jumps to 5, 7, 8 & 9. What happened to 2, 3, 4 & 6??

(Godmother Fox) #8

Ops, dunno … I was looking for stage 1, only (haven’t signed to it yet) … I just assume those 2,3,4… will appear later (on Jan 5-6, 8-9 … etc …)

Have you filtered the list? It’s a “Group ride”.

I see them listed, including stage 2 etc.

Sure would be nice to be able to do this and my 'structured workout. I really want to do the tour but already on a plan for 4-5 days of riding a week, I can’t add the extra 3 rides a week. Or add an option to ‘pause’ a workout plan. currently if I miss a scheduled workout it’s gone forever.

(Michael Love) #11

I also can’t ride everyday, so more frequent would still be better. If I miss the window by 30 minutes on the day I can ride, I can’t wait for 90 minutes for the next time slot to start, but i might be able to wait 30 minutes.

Zwift is probably worried about having too few people in each group, but I bet there are a lot of people that can’t participate given current timing.

To do these tours you have to do a bit of planning and scheduling, with events at every hour over two days there must be a time slot that can work.

There are many other events in zwift with ride leaders taking time to lead rides and workouts and if there is these big tour stile rides the other rides get less riders.

I think the current setup is a win win.

And no Zwift is not worried that there is to few people riding, I think it is the other way around.

And the switch-over between even and odd hours isn’t done with a 1-hour interval but instead with a 3-hour interval. These switch-overs happen right where I would like to ride - so the choices for several of the rides for me are at 4:00 or 7:00 - so I can choose between getting up at 3:30 or getting late to work.

So while I think once every 2 hours sounds like it should be frequent enough (5:00 or 6:00 are both fine for me), the one interval of 3 hours hits me on several rides making it hard for me to do all the rides as well…

(Rob Marchetti) #15

Yes it was the filter. Thanks

(Douglas Smith) #16

Not sure if this is the correct area but any idea why when I did stage one today it saved as a workout Sst and not the stage name? Thanks

(Gerrie Delport TeamZF) #17

@Douglas_Smith: I guess you did that workout before the race and it used that name when it saved.
