Tour de Zwift [January 2024]

FYI

Stage 3: Cat A Makuri 40.

The event finish is 300m past the banner.

Don’t be like me and find this out the hard way,

The B cat race 06:30 UTC today, Jan 13th on The Muckle Yin only had powerups (all feathers, I think) enable on the Champions Sprint, none at all for any riders on the Brae, Sgurr nor Loch Loop lap banner.

That’s by design, and is noted in the event description.

PowerUps
Every racer will be awarded one PowerUp per lap (2 in total). Make sure you nail your strategy to use it to most effect!
Champions’s Sprint: Feather

Ooops! Always read the description! I never read the description. Thanks!

Thanks for pointing that out Tom. I’d missed that - as had others in the race I did today on Makuri 40, where you only got one for the whole race.

I’d definitely like a few more!

TdZ Stage3, CatC – Placement wasn’t showing in game for some reason, and of course no ride results in CA.

Hi, loving Tour de Zwift being back, thankyou. I am in New Zealand and struggling with the weekday available event times. NZ time, they start at midnight and last event is 3pm, which is not good when the only time I have available is after work in the evenings and work starts very early. As i get out road riding on the weekend it leaves me little opportunity to get involved. Is this likely to change for future tours? Thanks

My friend, Ryan Condon, completed the Muckle Yin race yesterday, placing twelfth, got the results screen, was wearing HRM, but doesn’t show in Zwiftpower and ZCA shows him as DNF and Zwiftracing.app shows him DNF with 99.2% completion, though he definitely finished. Any ideas what might have happened. 17:30 TdZ race.

Been happening since around October 23, might or might not have been around same time as Race Results screen.

I think last we heard on matter was this post by Flint.

Thank you! Much appreciated

Hi Ro, Welcome to the forum!

Please could you clarify which events you’re talking about as I’m slightly confused?

I had an issue early in the tour where some stages weren’t appearing on the Zwift Companion app. If you’re not seeing the following, then it might be worth you updating the Companion app or logging into Zwift.com on a browser to see the events there.

The Tour de Zwift rides are every hour, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The weekend-only Tour de Zwift races start at 00:30 on Saturdays in the UK (13:30 Saturday in NZ) with the last races starting at 23:30 on Sunday in the UK (12:30 Monday in NZ).

Bingo! It was the companion app (sorry for being unclear). I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, as it appeared to be up to date. Suddenly there are so many more rides available. Thanks so much, no excuse now

Hey, my wife recently joined Zwift and is enjoying her first TdZ. The races are too far for her right now but enjoyed knowing her position in the group on the first two stages. She did stage 3 today and had no position indicated, my best guess is they been removed at weekends when the races are on? But does anybody know for sure?

I don’t know for sure but I think Zwift has had ‘issues’ setting up the C and probably D races. In my ride yesterday talk was all about A and B having places and C not.

IMO Zwift intends, now, to show position on all TdZ rides.

Hi @ishay, I think @Ian_Attoe is right - all rides should now all have placings and it seems to be an error. At the start of the TdZ they set rides up without results enabled, but they very quickly turned positions back on due to feedback - in what was a very good, quick bit of response from Zwift. Shuji mentioned this in the 23rd post of this thread.

From Day 2 I’ve seen positions on all routes I’ve ridden but it looks like Stage 3 route C has been missed out; my guess is whoever switched positions back on missed this one. Fingers crossed someone like @shooj or @manda_F will get someone onto fixing this as soon as Zwift’s working hours start on Monday morning…?

Sadly it seems I was wrong about Zwift fixing this on Monday; I rode the TdZ Stage 3 Route C at 8am UK time today (Tuesday) and there were still no ride positions. @shooj @manda_F is anyone still looking after fixing issues like this with Tour de Zwift stages now they’re up and running? If you’re on days off or someone’s off sick, is there someone else who could please keep an eye on things like this? This morning’s ride wasn’t a great experience, as I had no ride positions and problems with chat as well.

I did stage 3 yesterday and continued to ride for a bit after the event.

when the stage finished I lost about 40 seconds from the ride time. Not sure if this is how it is meant to work now the timer starts straight out of the pens?

Did the Makuri 40 ride yesterday. Any ideas why they put the end of the ride a slight bit past the Makuri 40 route arch? It was like .4km further for some reason.

According to ZwiftInsider, “The route begins and ends at a virtual banner just uphill from the start pens.”:

So if you stopped at the arch (below the start pens) you wouldn’t get the route badge.

Ah, it’s been a while since I’ve done Makuri 40 I guess. Seems like the arch would have been a good place to end the Makuri 40 route
