Sync automatically with RideWithGps

I use this process: Zwift to Training peaks (free) to RWGPS. It works, but it’s a pain - as you have to upload each file individually. Come on Zwift - make it work directly with RWGPS.

This post got me wondering how/ why my activities are showing up in RideWithGPS. After reviewing all the services I have connected, I think I figured it out…

I have a free Today’s Plan account which I connected to from Zwift. My Today’s Plan is connected to RideWithGPS and pushes my Zwift rides there. I don’t have Garmin Connect enabled.

Note that rides come through renamed by Today’s Plan in the format ‘zwift-activity-[numeric identifier]’.

Garmin does not sync activities recorded with non-Garmin devices to RWGPS. Only activities that are recorded on Garmin devices. Per RWGPS, Zwift would need to partner with RWGPS to allow the automatic syncing, but there is no agreement between the two companies for this. Until that happens, Zwift activities need to be manually uploaded.

I agree. Another vote for automatically synching Zwift with RWGPS!

Interesting. You’re saying that Zwift and RWGPS need to come to an agreement in order that Garmin would be allowed to forward on a FIT file to RWGPS? Seems pretty convoluted.

You’d think that if I, as a Garmin user, direct Garmin to sync with RWGPS, that it would apply to any file I put through Garmin.

No, what they’re saying is that Zwift and RWGPS would need to come to an agreement to allow syncing directly between them. Not via Garmin. Any Garmin behavior or decisions is Garmin.

I understand that that’s the original request of this thread (direct sync automatically from Zwift to RWGPS). I was replying though to @David_Ehrlich_HBCC

It is a bit curious though – I always wondered why none of the Zwift activities I upload to Garmin Connect were not syncing to RWGPS, but I didn’t bother to do anything about it, because I find it handy to have RWGPS report only outdoor IRL rides, while Strava has everything. I have Garmin Connect set to auto-sync to Strava as well as RWGPS. I prefer to manually download my FIT from Zwift and manually import to GC – allows me to pick n’choose what I actually upload to GC, and in turn Strava.

One more enthusiastic vote for adding Ride With GPS to the list of connecting platforms!

Add me to that list

Any news on this. I use ridewithgps as my primary.

No news. As far as I can tell there has never been any kind of engagement from Zwift on this question. There’s also not a lot of support for the feature request, so my guess is it’s never coming. Same with intervals.icu integration, which would probably get more use than a RideWithGPS integration, but nothing there either.

For anyone looking for solution in the meantime https:// tapiriik .com/ is a service that will push your Strava activities over to RidewithGPS automatically.

Syncing zwift with RideWithGPS is a feature I would like to see also.

I can sync zwift to Garmin Connect and Garmin Connect to RideWithGPS, but Garmin only sends over rides that it records. Since it didn’t record the Zwift ride, the data is not sent to RideWithGPS. I tried recording the Zwift ride with Garmin, but the data is different than what Zwift records.

Interesting. I haven’t synced Zwift with Garmin Connect, but rather manually import my Zwift Fit files to GC. There are some virtual rides I just don’t want to save to the other platforms. And I’ve synced GC to RWGPS. My imported GC rides go to RWGPS just fine (as well as to Strava for that matter).
