Starting new activity after ending one

I run Zwift on an Apple TV and use Android ZC app as a bridge to connect devices (have to use the app as I have play controllers). It all works fine when I start my first activity - turn everything on, start ZC app on my phone, connects within seconds.

But if I end an activity, the connection via ZC seems to stay active, which means if I then want to start a new activity straight away I can’t pair my devices. At this point the pairing screen shows nothing connected, but the lights on the play controllers are solid blue indicating they’re still connected.

It seems that force closing the ZC app forces the disconnection and I can then pair devices and start a new activity. If I don’t force close the app, I can’t pair devices. The ZC app still shows the map screen despite the activity being ended, not sure if this is the problem.

Is this a bug, or feature? It’s a pain having to mess around re-pairing so if there’s a simple fix or workaround, that’d be great.

I’m also an Apple TV + Android ZC user, and my Companion game mode ends when I log out of the main app.

The Companion-to-game app connection relies on both devices pairing over WiFi. You might try rebooting every device on the network to reset them: Starting with your cable modem / WiFi router / Apple TV / Android phone in that order. While you’re at it, power cycle your trainer too… Would you give that a shot and see if that resolves it?

It’s good practice to reboot your Apple TV box on a regular basis. There’s several ways to do it on this Apple Support article.

Hi Shuji, thanks for your suggestions. I’ve followed them but the issue remains unfortunately. It’s frustrating, particularly today after a Zwift crash mid-ride, followed by 10 minutes of messing around trying to reconnect to resume my ride. I’m at a loss really on what I can do to resolve this.

I think I’m on the latest version - 3.66.0. No updates are available on my phone.
