Someone always gets dropped on Coffee Breaks during small group banded rides

I’ve done five or so banded group rides with the same group of 5-10 riders for the past two months. After the 30 minute mark, what typically happens is we all try to synchronize our Coffee Stop. We all hit the coffee icon and in our voice chat, the leader does a countdown and we all press Start at the same time as we stop pedaling.

At first, this seems to work fine, and everyone gets the coffee cup above their avatar, but there is always at least one person who gets dropped from the group and their bike just rolls to a stop on the route. The only way for them to catch up again after the 3 minutes are up is for the majority of the group to stop pedaling for a few more minutes to let them catch up and it’s cumbersome to get everyone all banded up again. What are we doing wrong? How can we get everyone’s avatar to stick with the Coffee Stop?

Is it literally everyone trying to use the coffee stop?

I would suspect you’ve found a use case for coffee stop no one ever considered - resulting in an annoying bug (probably for whoever is first or last to have their coffee stop request received by Zwift).

Either one volunteer has to just keep soft pedalling whilst you have your coffees, or try just all stopping at the same time and restarting later all together without using the coffee stop feature.

Excellent QA test you have created :+1:

A QA engineer walks into a bar and orders a beer.

She orders 2 beers.

She orders 0 beers.

She orders -1 beers.

She orders a lizard.

She orders a NULLPTR.

She tries to leave without paying.

Satisfied, she declares the bar ready for business. The first customer comes in an orders a beer. They finish their drink, and then ask where the bathroom is.

The bar explodes.

If you are in a group ride ands all want a break, can’t you all just stop at the same time and then all just start again at the same time?
The coffee stop is to help people have a break without losing their group but if the whole group stops you won’t lose them.
unless I have misunderstood?

Yes, I think everyone is hitting the button.

Haha, I guess I had never considered just having everyone stop pedaling and not use the feature! We just loved the idea of our avatars all pedaling around the route as we rested. But I guess we’re using the feature not as it was intended. Thanks for your suggestion!

That explains it!

No, you’re using it as intended, but in a way that Zwift never anticipated.

coffee stops can be used however anyone wants to use them when they are available, just in this case i think it is actually counterproductive
