We’ve made some bug fixes to the Coffee Stop in game version 1.108 and also added some refinements. These fundamental behaviors remain the same as before.
Coffee Stop is disabled in all competitive events and structured workouts.
Coffee Stops regenerate 30 minutes after the previous one ended.
You need at least one other Zwifter nearby headed in the same direction.
Bug Fixes
Fixed issues where towing abruptly stopped, and shouldn’t have:
When triggered before the final 5km of a distance-based event, or the final 15 minutes of a time-based event, but towing suddenly stopped at those thresholds.
When finishing an event, the activity automatically transitions into a free ride. In this case, towing suddenly stopped right when the event ended and the free ride began.
Your momentum and selected route will now continue after an intersection after your “tow truck” turned onto a different route.
What’s New
Earlier Availability: The 3-minute Coffee Stop is now available starting at the 5-minute mark (previously 30 minutes).
Note: This kicks in exactly when the shorter 30-second stop becomes unavailable.
Hover Tooltips: If the Coffee Stop icon is greyed out/disabled, hovering over it will now display the reason.
Activity Reset Logic: Coffee Stop timers and availability are now correctly reset whenever switching between different activity types where Coffee Stops are allowed (i.e. non-competitive group rides, and rides that don’t involve a structured workout), or returning to the Home Screen.
Note: when Event Cool Down is enabled to extend the group ride beyond the finish arch - resets do not occur. This is considered the same activity as the group ride that preceded it.
I do not understand why there are these weird arbitrary limits to use coffee stop. Let us use as much of it and as frequently as we’d like.
The Fed Ex driver that needs my signature is not concerned with how long ago my ride started, a toddler that needs my attention doesn’t care that I just used my coffee 14 minutes ago. If I’m just open riding with a pace partner, agreed, who cares? But if I waited all day to join a group ride and now I’m going to be dropped because I can’t use coffee stop, that stinks
If the fear is that we’ll have a population of ghost cyclists who just sit in coffee stop all day there are more elegant ways to handle this.
The teleport should work in events to allow dropped riders to teleport back to either the red or yellow beacon (whichever one exists). This would be a lot easier than having a whole heap of people trying to sweep a struggling rider back to the main group (which is sometimes futile because the rider is just too tired).
When I place my Android phone on a treadmill and start running, the screen flips upside down about every 30 seconds.
The phone is placed in a treadmill cup holder in landscape mode. While running, the treadmill vibration seems to cause slight movement. The device appears to be near the orientation threshold between landscape and reverse landscape.
We don’t need them. We don’t have Robopacers or drops, so if I want to stop running I don’t lose anything, and if I really feel like I have to run with a group, I can always just step off the treadmill and let it run (I use my treadmill for speed, instead of a runpod).
Sweeping is a really fun challenge that makes group rides very enjoyable and engaging. Getting rid of it would not be good for me. People rarely use the coffee break when I am sweeping. Getting dropped from a group ride is something I would describe as a beneficial hazard. People turn themselves inside out trying to get back while I try to maintain a steady gap to their front wheel. It’s beautiful and not really related to the coffee break feature which is rarely a factor.
