Hello all. I’m new to Zwift! I’ve got a Zwift Ride. I’ve done a few rides but seem to be in ERG mode with no gears showing on screen and no shifting. I want to ride in SIM mode using gears to translate to what I do on the road. I can’t for the life of my work out how to do it. Any simple suggestions for a non techy first timer?
Welcome to Forums @Steve_Carter5,
I appreciate that you contacted us over Forums for the first time, let me confirm that to do a race without the ERG mode you only need to perform a Free Ride.
ERG mode is only available in workouts, for more information please check this article ERG Mode in Workouts
If you have a trainer that’s compatible with ERG mode, you can turn this on or off using the action bar once you’ve started your workout. Check out this article for more info on using the action bar.
Which trainer do you have? For virtual shifting to work the trainer must be paired via Bluetooth, not ANT+, and it has to be a trainer that supports virtual shifting, and if it does you may need to install a firmware update to support it. If all that is good then you should see the ride controls available on the pairing screen under Controls. If you have an ANT+ dongle in the system, remove it while you test this.
I have the Zwift Ride with Wahoo Kickr Core. But my control screen doesn’t have any controls paired - is this the problem? Is this why I can’t see gears or shift?
Run the Wahoo app and make sure that the trainer firmware is 1.5.36
The fact that the controls are not paired is the reason why virtual shifting is not working
Are you able to pair the Ride controls on the Zwift Hardware menu in the Companion app? If not there may be a problem with the controls. Try that and if there’s a firmware update for the Ride controls, apply that as well.
Yessss got it going. Shifters are now paired. Thanks for your help.
