Saris H3 ERG mode broken

I have a Saris H3 running the latest firmware and calibrated using the Saris App. I have noticed ERG mode is not working like it used to where the resistance adjusted during workouts. I find myself shifting gears and adjusting my cadence to get to the target power whereas before the trainer had a great ERG performance.

I am connected to a PC via ANT+ running the latest Zwift game version. No dropouts at all. I have no idea if this is related to a game update but was wondering if other users have seen the same issues with their Saris trainers.

I haven’t seen other reports like yours. You should be able to test ERG mode in the Saris app, or run Zwift on the device you are using for the Saris app. Also make sure the Saris app is terminated (or deleted) when you test it in Zwift, and if you run Zwift on a second device be sure to either terminate it or delete it before testing again on the PC.

If you contact Zwift support they can sometimes spot problems by looking at your log files.

I am only connected to one device at a time. Will contact Zwift support to see what they have to say. Thanks

Hi @Rafa_Baez, Welcome to the Zwif Forums!
Fernanda here, part of the support specialist team at Zwift.

Let’s work together to find a solution for this ERG performance situation with your Saris H3. I took a look at your account and I was able to see that you are using an ANT+ connection, however, is not under the “FE-C” channel for your trainer device. To be sure this is not affecting you, could you please follow these steps:

  • Restart Zwift.
  • Unpair all devices.
  • Pair all connections to ANT+FE-C in the following order:
    • Power.
    • Controllable.
    • Cadence.
    • Heart Rate, if applicable.

Once you do this, perform a test ride on the App and let me know how it goes!

Ride On.

I have the same issue with my Saris H3/erg mode only I am connected via bluetooth. I am running Zwift on a PC laptop.

You have to make sure you’re paired to the FEC trainer or FEC power source on the pair screen. That fixed my issues

FEC is ANT+, afaik?

Not sure, I have only connected my trainer using in ANT+

Yes FE-C is an enhancement to the ANT+ protocol

I would expect Bluetooth should work fine as long as it has good signal
