Compound Score is 5m power normalised for weight. There is a research paper that shows it has very high correlation with generalised performance in elite level cycling. It is used on ZR as the initial seed to get a new or returning rider in to roughly the right spot in the absence of results data.
Before any ranking changes are applied based on results, it already does a surprisingly good job of ranking riders. If you like, you could then view the ranking changes as changes to allow for Zwift Skill, sprinting ability, drafting effectiveness, how good you are on the course and race types that you most typically race, etc.
If a rider had a rank that was far away from their compound score, there may be an issue. Of course it could also be completely accurate, but there may at least be a case for investigation. Bath Salts started with a much lower seed, but has improved both his Compound Score and his rank in line with each other, even though they are not tied together at all in the algorithm. It looks, as far as I can tell, like a very accurate rank for his capabilities.
For you specifically, your ranking went up quite a lot higher than your CS with some strong results in the first half of the season, but has recently started coming down again (but only tiny amounts, you are roughly in the right place). It’s still above your CS.
