There was a Return Ride On from the play controller, but Zwift removed it over a year ago and I see no indication that it’s returning. It was a simple press of a controller button and you could return the ride on regardless if the zwifter was out of your ride on zone. It was frictionless, unlike now, where you have to mess about with your computer, ipad, etc…
Still works for me, short press of Z, after I see someone has given me a ride on.
Ditto what Steve said
I will try it again tonight. It hasn’t been working for me for over a year, or at least the last time I tried it which was a few months ago.
Doesn’t work for me. V1 Play controller
It works. Maybe the reason you’re not getting any haptic feedback is because you’ve already given that person a Ride-on (e.g. your own broadcast long press) or the person giving you a Ride-on is a follower but not in your ride. Or your feedback is disabled in Settings.
No. I waited until someone passed and gave me a ride on. I’d wait until they are out of the zone, but still have the icon next to their name. It didn’t work. I just blasted any in the ride on zone.
I have had intermittent success returning ride-ons with KICKR SHIFT.
It would seem that even if the icon is next to their name, if I didn’t try to return the ride-on within one second or so, with a short press of the return ride-on button, it would not return it. If it was within one second or so, it would.
IIRC my original Play stopped returning ROs after a year or so. Then I was sent a free, second set on reaching Level 85, swapped those in, and have been returning ROs fine ever since.
Thanks. I need to ask Zwift about this and/or just get a new pair. I didn’t bother getting the second pair when they sent out the lvl 85 email.
Hi Roger,
I think the waiting for them to be ‘out of the zone’ may be the issue here. I usually find I need to tap Z almost immediately after receiving a ride on. Maybe 2 seconds max. All I need to do is give the Z a quick press, not hold it down to do the ride on bomb. If I leave it too long though, it won’t work. Hope this helps?
When I receive a ride on from a nearby user, a supposed “quick tap” of the orange Z button is supposed to reciprocate the ride on. It does not. Same as for when the option to give a ride is displayed next to a rider’s name when achieving a PR, completing workout, etc. the same issue is observed. I’ve tried a quick tap, a medium tap, a slow tap, a double tap, even a triple tap! Nothing. Z button functions normal for the long press ride on bomb. This is observed on my PC and Macbook laptop. Would love for this to work. I’ve wanted a quick and easy way to reciprocate a ride on for years now. Thanks!
Previously it’s been known that liquid ingress into the controller could be the issue for this
Brand new. Ridden it twice. Has not worked since I set it up. Everything updated.
This is a known issue that has been around for ages and there are threads about it somewhere.
This feature used to work properly initially, when Zwift Play was originally released
There are suggestions that it actually still works, just that you don’t get a confirmation message like you used to. I’m unclear. For me, if I get a Ride On and try to return it with the Z button then sometimes I get a vibration from the controller (did it do a Ride On?) and sometimes I don’t. Now some of those Ride Ons I’m receiving might be from people not currently Zwifting and it makes sense in those cases it wouldn’t “work”, and I wouldn’t get a vibration.
I’m really unsure whether the issue is simply the message not appearing any more, or if it works only intermittently, or it doesn’t work at all other than sometimes vibrating.
Someone here may well have done some specific tests to confirm what actually happens.
I believe it still works. Its easy to see if you have the level 100 Confetti socks on. I get the vibration and I see the Confetti above the person im returning a ride on to.
I’m quite certain that is doesn’t work at all. I did a group workout the other day with only 12 people- all other Zwifters were hidden. This was a good test scenario. I couldn’t return a ride on to any of them. Tried multiple times with no success. No vibration, no giant ride on thumb over their heads, nothing.
I’ve also seen threads on this elsewhere with no resolution. They all read as you describe Steve, it might be the message, it might be intermittent, or might not work at all. So I thought I would raise the issue again. Thanks for your thoughts on this.
I feel the vibration working via Apple TV. Maybe this is platform-dependent?
Sooo, my original thread got moved into this thread and then closed??? But it’s still unresolved.
That’s what happens when topics are too duplicative. You get one topic, but you get the benefit of more interested people seeing your comment.
