I’m new to Zwift and still trying to figure out all the metrics but in a group ride this morning I averaged 2.0w/kg and 162watts despite the vast majority of other riders (the group) hovering at 1.6-7 and 120 watts, and I was completely dropped on the ride. Am I just that out of shape or is there something wrong with my setup? I’m trying to understand the metrics in relation to my effort and that of others around me. Thanks!
It looks like you were using the TT bike. The TT bike can’t draft so you had to put out a lot more Watt to stay with the group.
What in-game bike where you using? If it was a TT/Tri bike those do not get any drafting assist and that could be the cause of you losing touch with the group.
Not sure what your setup is, but this could help:
Zwift takes your watts, the weight entered, height entered, in-game bike used, in-game drafting (Tri and TT bikes get no drafting boost), in-game wheel set, in-game road surface, and in-game virtual elevation changes your in-game speed is determined.
Thanks guys, I did forget to change off my TT bike and kicked myself for it right away, but didn’t realize it would effect my ride that much. Learning something new!
If it happens again Thomas, you can change bikes mid ride. Should be able to do it in about 20 secs and then catch up. See the Zwift Insider post on it (very useful in the jungle switching to an MTB which I did on last nights TDZ Stage 2 mid ride and whizzed past a lot of people)
