Power all over the map - now even in workouts :(

Hi,

I have a 2021 Wahoo Kickr. The power started fluctuating during rides by about 100 rpms in a regular manner - it starts at the bottom of the range and ticks up by about 15 rpms until it hits the top and then it starts fluctuating down by the same ranges. (And no, there is no way that I could possibly be that consistent in my riding.) So I switched to never doing free rides, but only workouts. The workouts could hold the power but no longer. Now even my workouts don’t hold the power level for the given workout.

Any thoughts???

Thank you

You could try a factory spindown to recalibrate - see the recent article on zwiftinsider.com

Alternatively, try contacting Wahoo support. I had a problem with my Kickr last year where power was also fluctuating and they swapped out my Kickr.

Hope this helps!

Do you mean power as in W watts or Cadence as in RPM?

Sorry - Watts, not RPM.

I’ve tried: Factory spindown reset for Wahoo KICKR, turning off all bluetooth connections, moving bike closer, reinstalling Zwift, nothing works.

Great idea! Didn’t work. :frowning:

Sorry, power watts, not cadence RPM. Cadence works fine.

Sounds like a problem with the trainer and not Zwift. Have you tried riding in another app? You’ll probably need to go through this with Wahoo support.

Hi @Glencora_Day, Welcome to the Zwift Forums!
Fernanda here, part of the support specialist team at Zwift.

I appreciate that you use this space to bring this issue to our attention. Let’s try to find an answer to this wattage issue with your Kickr, could you please give a try to these steps:

  • Confirm that your Kickr is under the latest firmware.
  • You did great in performing the spindown calibration on the Wahoo App, however, could you please try performing the spindown calibration after a 20-30 minute ride? This will warm up the trainer and ensure better results.
  • Also, be sure to unplug your Wahoo Kick for 30 seconds, then plug it back in after the calibration is completed.
  • Last but not least, I will kindly ask you to perform a test ride on the Wahoo App, and let us know if the wattage issue is also happening in the manufactured app to confirm @Steve_Hammatt theory and be sure if the trainer is affected.

Let us know how it goes for you!
