Well, I guess we’re stuck with it. I have no idea where it gets the suggestions for me from.
How about making it smarter?! Like, show me only routes where I don’t have a badge yet. Or look at my latest workouts and show me only this type - I rarely do workouts, but when I do, it’s VO2 or anaerobic intervals.
This! Zwift is not my coach and it will never be my coach. The same applies to all the other apps that are trying to be my coach. No app has a complete picture of my life, nor do any of them know what my goals are. On top of that, I’m just getting tired of every single app telling me what to do all the time, doubly so when the recommendations are obvious garbage, like today’s suggestion of alternating between 130w and 150w for 45 minutes.
How do I turn it off or hide it? Zwift is not my coach and will never be my coach. There’s also a half dozen other apps on my phone that are trying to be my coach and I’m sick of it.
This absolutely needs to have a toggle to turn it off.
I have no interest in AI suggested activities.
None whatsoever.
AI should not be “telling” me what I should do.
AI does not know me.
Adding another voice to the chorus of folks who would like to turn this off. It’s not something I’m interested in using, and it’s unnecessarily cluttering my companion app.
Even Strava allowed users to turn off their AI functionality, from day one.
I understand that some people may find the AI “Next Up” suggestions helpful but many of us already have training plans or events in mind when we log in. Can we make it so that we can toggle the “up next” suggestions off, so we aren’t contributing to the environmental footprint of the computational request for a feature we don’t use?
I’d also prefer it below friends/connections currently riding which I could easily thumbs up from the home screen. Now it’s just below “the fold” (need to scroll a bit).
As I posted previously in another topic -
This needs to be an option to turn off.
I have no interest in AI suggested activities.
AI does not know me.
I will not take advice from AI.
Totally agree. I have concerns about the environmental impact of nonstop AI usage - plus I don’t need the suggestions. I’ve actually stopped opening Companion when not riding so I don’t send the AI wheels spinning unnecessarily
I guess it’s just something else you could ignore, but note that if you have signed up for events they appear in the Next Up box too - it’s not just AI suggestions.
This “feature” is a red line for me. I’ll be out of Zwift the moment this pops up for me without the option to turn it off. I don’t want AI to waste precious energy for deciding what I should do next. I can think for myself, thank you.
I think Zwift just has a problem with giving users options, partly I guess due to technical debt (for example, the game UI itself), but here they’ve loaded the start-up screen with extras users may not want. I understand the need to surface new features for users who may not know of them but give users the option to turn them off as well. The companion app is even worse, the fitness trends box is 1/3 of the screen, and useless to me since I run outdoors as well, so it ignores most of my TSS load. Then add the Next up feature as well, and the Zwifting now panel, that’s almost all the screen. The next 1/2 screen is a big Tour De Zwift call to action. Yes, I know it’s easy to scroll but I’d just like a nice clean UI. /end_rant
@Gerrie_Delport_ODZ - why did you close the Feature Request to turn this off?
This post is an announcement.
The one you closed was a feature request - which obviously is a valid request, given the number of posts here to have an option to turn it off.
I’ve had this feature for a couple of days now. I like it. It does a nice job of answering the “What should I ride today” question. It is easily ignored if I don’t like the suggestion(s).
Yesterday I had signed up for a group workout. Up Next had the event front and center for me, making it even easier to join. After the workout it suggested a short flat route, presumably as a cool down option. In addition to events, I presume that if you’re on a workout plan it will offer up the next workout in the plan. If it doesn’t do that it should.
Today it offered a moderate route as the default. The suggested route was in line with my level of fatigue at this point in the week.
Looking at the tuning options I had the choice of the route, a workout, and a robopacer. All seemed reasonable. The “longer” and “shorter” options were nice to see.
I selected an hour with Bernie. The timer is a nice feature. As you ride it tells you how much time is left in your hour. However, I would prefer to see only whole minutes. A message telling me that there is 8:59 left in the ride is precise but not terribly helpful.
The timer has a chime that goes off every second in the last minute. First, it isn’t clear what that chime is trying to tell me. Having it count down the final 30 seconds would be more than enough. Second, the chime occasionally skips a second, breaking the rhythm.
The confetti at the end of the hour is a nice touch.
A couple of enhancements to consider: “easier” / “harder” choices in addition to “shorter” / “longer”. And an option to choose miles with the robopacer would be nice.
Overall, good job Zwift. I’m looking forward to the final version.
