I’ve had this feature for a couple of days now. I like it. It does a nice job of answering the “What should I ride today” question. It is easily ignored if I don’t like the suggestion(s).
Yesterday I had signed up for a group workout. Up Next had the event front and center for me, making it even easier to join. After the workout it suggested a short flat route, presumably as a cool down option. In addition to events, I presume that if you’re on a workout plan it will offer up the next workout in the plan. If it doesn’t do that it should.
Today it offered a moderate route as the default. The suggested route was in line with my level of fatigue at this point in the week.
Looking at the tuning options I had the choice of the route, a workout, and a robopacer. All seemed reasonable. The “longer” and “shorter” options were nice to see.
I selected an hour with Bernie. The timer is a nice feature. As you ride it tells you how much time is left in your hour. However, I would prefer to see only whole minutes. A message telling me that there is 8:59 left in the ride is precise but not terribly helpful.
The timer has a chime that goes off every second in the last minute. First, it isn’t clear what that chime is trying to tell me. Having it count down the final 30 seconds would be more than enough. Second, the chime occasionally skips a second, breaking the rhythm.
The confetti at the end of the hour is a nice touch.
A couple of enhancements to consider: “easier” / “harder” choices in addition to “shorter” / “longer”. And an option to choose miles with the robopacer would be nice.
Overall, good job Zwift. I’m looking forward to the final version.
