I have seen the pairing screen you see when no sensors is present.
I’m not sure you’ve proven that the sensor is bad. It could be, but hard to know for sure without testing it against something other than Zwift. Also doesn’t it have a little LED on the sensor that lights up when it’s awake? Is that showing up when you spin the wheel? I’m not sure if all generations of the Garmin sensor have it.
I think the HRM pairing happens after the power meter or speed sensor pairing so it’s probably not getting far enough to attempt to pair it.
Hi @Kevin_Russell, I can confirm from looking at your logs that Zwift is only seeing your HR strap over ANT+ (No other ANT+ devices).
You’re right - I was getting a bit lazy about it. The sensor is definitely an old version - no led. I dug up my old Garmin 305 watch. Watch functions - detected satellite, etc. Opened screen that shows speed and cadence and started turning the crank for 2 minutes. The watch has an auto pause and auto resume feature that turns on and off based on reading the cadence. It does turn on and off with some latency BUT it is not reading the speed or RPM’s. Thanks for prompting me to go the next step - I’m confident now it is the Garmin bike mounted sensor. It’s had a long life - RIP!
Good point on the HRM pairing too - explains why I’m seeing the other screen.
Bring back the old pairing screen it was way better than the new one
What is different that you don’t like.
vs
The fact that you can’t see things such as heart rate monitor when you initially get to the screen, once everything connects you get zapped away from the pairing screen to the home screen, which isn’t much help it I’m not in the roomwhen it all connects
yeah, this is exactly what i mean
If you have your Power meter / smart trainer on and awake it will skip that screen.
I only see that when there is no devices nearby.
Do you use Power or speed sensor.
I start with my heart monitor powered up and when I’m happy with that I power up my Tuo and let that connect, that then provides speed cadence etc
May I ask why not start with the trainer.
Because I like to make sure that heart monitor is working properly before I bother with the trainer, and if it isn’t I can go get one of my other ones and get that paired and sorted
If you’re having to do that on a regular basis, what order you pair things in the not your biggest issue.
it’s just the way I’ve always done things, fire up zwift, pair heart rate monitor, put three the bike I the trainer, fire up the trainer, connect companion app, ride
