NYC Expansion is here! [October 2025]

Hey Zwifters!

We’re thrilled to announce the latest expansion to New York City, adding 31 km of brand-new roads, 20 fresh routes, and 4 running paths to explore.

:cityscape_at_dusk: This update takes the city that never sleeps to a whole new level — with elevated skyways, hidden park loops, and new segments connecting some of your favorite NYC landmarks. You’ll also notice more open, flatter routes for steady-state efforts, mildly rolling terrain perfect for tempo rides, and a few short climbs to keep your legs honest.

For those who love real-world accuracy, Prospect Park, the Manhattan Bridge, and the Brooklyn Bridge are all GPS-accurate recreations, bringing an authentic touch of the city to each pedal stroke.

Some uniquely named routes even pay tribute to legendary New York race directors who have organized real-world bike racing in the park for decades - a nod to the city’s deep cycling roots and racing culture. :orange_heart:

A few routes are still under wraps :eyes: but will be rolling out soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

And that’s not all — we’ve introduced a new Power Segment feature :high_voltage:
Here’s how it works:

  • You’ll hold the highest power possible over a set time duration.

  • Average watts are tracked, ranked, and compared — it’s all about pushing your limits and seeing how your power stacks up!

Whether you’re racing through Prospect Park, chasing PRs up the KOMs, or testing your legs in the Power Segment challenge — this update is all about giving you more ways to ride, run, and crush watts in style.

Can’t wait to see everyone out there hitting the new tarmac — Let us know your favorite new route! :woman_biking::fire:

How did you get the Beastie Boys to use some of their finest songs for a route, and will we hear that song while riding the route ?

I dont like NYC as it is, and this new addition wont change my mind. This fantasy world isnt really my thing, so will probably ride them once for the badge and never go to NYC again.

But a climbboost out of the subway ? Is this really turning into Mario Kart now ?

Thats a huge dislike from me. Zwift isnt availablke for riders under 16, so why design it, or have it designed by 8 year olds beats me.

Excellent. You’ve had your say. Well done.

Zwift really had an opportunity to show off the NY skyline with the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges but in both cases they chose to run the route through the lower decks ruining the view with ugly steel girders and high fencing. The thumbnail for the preview video shows the problem.

Please remember Zwift, game level design is an important part of the development process.

All of Zwift is a fantasy world. =)

It’s OK if you don’t like this update though. Plenty of us will dig it.

I particularly like the idea of the power segments. Standard ones mean actually hitting the power well before the segment starts, and are affected by being in a big draft, having the right power up etc. These new ones look like they’re just about hitting max power for the segment and will be a more consistent yardstick.

Apparently that is what it looks like IRL and they used the true GPS data for the bridges, but that doesn’t mean they had to block the views… This is Zwift and they really missed an opportunity here… I need a good look at the statue of Scotty Liberty!

Well, if someone hates it, then should we take it out? and the time trial booster as well?

It’s good to see there’s no hate back for people who only come to complain.

I think I need to time trial the new roads to see how the boost and power segments go.

Thanks for all your hard work, gang! 99.99% approval rate.

Hopefully there will be a change to this in the future. :crossed_fingers:

Can’t wait to give a go tomorrow!!!

Just asking for riders with acrophobia (fear of heights), will there be the feature to switch off glass roads to tarmac for elevated viaducts?

This being available will help riders with the condition to ride more comfortably in Zwift.

I’m just spinning through all these routes with constant power in ERG Mode to get the route badges with no intention on ever doing them again. I don’t generally join cycling events that pick NYC routes unless it is like The 6 Train or the Reverse of it, because I think the glass roads are stupid.

Interestingly enough, though, I enjoy running in NYC on Zwift, even on the glass roads, but I also often don’t have my treadmill set to follow the route gradient.

Although, the visuals are pretty nice for the update as for what I have seen thus far, so there’s that.

Turn off escalators for races

I was also sceptical about the escalator. But it’s actually fun to ride it, especially on a Kickr Bike or with a Kickr Climb. I almost fell off the back. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yes. You can make them grey.

If you had changed them before the update, you will need to change them again.

Just rode the first few, so a little more funded view :

Spinfinity 0/10 - Those glass roads, flying cars etc are just not for me. It feels like watching The Jetsons meets Back To The Future.

Toefield Tornado 8/10 - I actually liked this one. No idea if the park resembles the real thing, but it was nice.

Double Spin Span - 6/10 - Glass start sucks, but the two bridges are well done and nice to ride up.

Prospect Park Loop, Issendorf Express 2/10 - Those are the exact same routes as the Toefield route just a different set of KM. Even the loop of the park is the same. One counter clockwise would have made a difference.

Avon Flyer - 5/10 - Again the same park but this one is in the other direction. The park is nicely done and people walking their dogs is fun to see, but 4 routes almost identical that is pretty boring and a severe lack of imagination and originality from the dev team.

Still to do : Green to Screen, Watts the Limit, Spinfinity Ultra, The Greenway, Double Parked and Fugheddaboutit but looking at the preview of the routes I dont have many hope I will like those.

And what is the deal with the Time Square Circuit and No Sleep Till Brooklyn routes ? They havent been mentioned yet anywhere but I see those badges are missing in my acchievement page.

And something that made me curious. What is that jumping up and down mascotte wearing green and blue ? Is that the NYC mascotte or something ? See him everywhere.
