No route badge

This isn’t a major issue, but it’s still mildly annoying.

I ride the Big Ring with Jacques yesterday, completing the last 20k from joining, then a full lap and an extra k or so. Despite completing the full lap, I didn’t get the route badge. Is this what should happen? I’ve got a dim memory from other routes with the bots that you get the badge on the second full lap. (Which on the 49k Big Ring was not a possibility on a lunch break!)

I did get oodles of drops via a lot of “Ride Ons” and had a good workout, so per initial comment, it’s not all bad!

Thanks!

The big ring has a 2.3km lead in which you have to do in addition to the route, maybe that is the issue? The lead in seems to be something you would hit on a subsequent lap, but the total distance would be +2.3km I think.

Edit: seen here: “The Big Ring” Route Details (Watopia) | Zwift Insider

Thanks. That makes sense. I assume I didn’t ride the lead in as just joined Jacques mid-loop.

I’ll save doing this again for my last route badge to complete the full set. Only around 120 to go, so could be a while yet!

You should have received the route badge as long as you did the complete route from start banner to end banner. This has been confirmed more than once by Zwift staff here. Doesn’t matter about the lead-in if you’re doing it with a RP.

Contact Zwift support if you didn’t get the badge.

Thanks. I’ll drop Support a note and see if they’ll give me the badge. It should be clear from my activity log that the deed was done!

Wouldn’t they have to do the lead in distance as well? If you didn’t do the lead in separate from that part of the course during the normal lap I would think you wouldn’t get the badge. So in the case of a route like Big Ring if you only do that “lead in” section once, you haven’t really done the route.

No, crossing the start line is what starts the route. For a free ride or event that’ll include the lead-in too. I think that the note in the loading screens about having to complete the lead-in is mainly there to warn people who are purely looking at the distance completed, i.e. if it’s a free ride or event they shouldn’t assume they’re done after only the route distance. But for an RP the lead-in doesn’t matter.

Do you count selecting the route from the in game main menu as a free ride? I think selecting the Big Ring from route menu starts you at the beginning of the actual route not at the start of the lead in.
I wonder if some of these lead ins start towards the end of the pen and actually cycling the whole route doesn’t cover the full lead in as part of which might be in the pen ? ( but it does in a club ride as they generally start in the pen ?)

The support documentation says yes, and so does the splash screen when loading the game. Other people say no, but I can’t test it since I already have all the badges for routes that the pacers use. So :man_shrugging:

I know a way YOU can test it   :fire: :fire:

I recently did Avon Flyer as a Freeride, where I didnt have to ride the lead-in and still got the badge.

All good now. Badge added manually by Zwift support. 2 emails needed. One to trigger a response saying “No but let us know if you want to escalate this” and then one asking for it to be escalated.
