Have a pretty newbie question but can’t seem to find the answer for it.
Why do we have to reconnect our various sensors between rides during the same session?
Or why does the software kick us back to the sensor pairing screen every time we end a ride even if we plan on doing multiple rides/routes/events back to back?
Obviously disconnecting the sensors if we exit the software is a basic coding requirement, but why require it when you end a ride? It’s not like you are going to / need to recalibrate them, what’s gained by hard coding this into the system?
I don’t have any problems with sensors dropping out during a ride but, it can take my tablet several minutes to find and connect to my various sensors and so I have to sit there pedaling while I wait which gets really annoying. I don’t understand why we have to re-connect the sensors when they were connected during the ride I just finished.
Again, sorry for the newb question, it’s just an annoying situation.
Thanks,
David
Very reasonable complaint about the tablet/phone/AppleTV experience. On PC and Mac you don’t have to do that.
Yea, I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Tab and it always takes a bit for my trainer, HRM, and cadence sensor to pair up. The Wahoo cadence sensor is especially finnicky, have to pedal for a bit, then stop for 15 secs, pedal a bit more, etc.
What’s strange is you don’t have to do it if you are switching from a route to an event, ie doing a robo-pacer route as a warm up and then jumping straight into an event. And it does split up the two rides into separate activity files, so the system can handle going to a new route / event without resetting the connections.
So why does the functionality not exist?
no real answer, but back a few years ago even with PC and Mac everytime you saved a ride you were automatically logged out of Zwift… I don’t use the mobile platforms, so I’m not really familiar with how they work differently, but the exact question “why does the functionality not exist” can be asked about a lot of things with Zwift… unfortunately…
