New Wahoo Kickr Core Resistance

I have recently purchased a new Wahoo Kickr Core with Zwift Hub.

It is an excellent trainer, however, the resistance profile feels very different to my previous trainer. My previous trainer was exactly the same model and felt easier - less effort, higher wattage.

My new trainer feels like the resistance is much heavier. It feels as though the brakes have been applied and I am struggling to match the wattage that I previously was able to output on my original trainer, even when it was brand new.

Is there a reason why the new trainer feels significantly more challenging? The wattage difference is significant -20W. I have performed all trouble shooting resolutions - unplugging, spinning down, erg mode on and off, but still the same outcome.

When I plug my old trainer in, it feels easier and higher wattage. I am uncertain what to try next as I don’t think I have lost fitness in a year of training on the bike?

I would test them using the Wahoo app and if you still feel that difference, contact Wahoo support.

Have contacted Wahoo. Their customer service is awful.

Who sold you the new trainer? Zwift has a 30 day return policy if you bought it from them.

Wahoo sent me the Kickr as a replacement

In that case I would just politely carry on with them and see if they come around. If you can arrange to test against a second power meter while dual recording that might help establish which trainer is more accurate.
