I purchased the Kickr Core 2 for my wife who has an older Core version as an upgrade. She has tried reaching out to customer service twice to no avail. It’s been over a month since her 1st Email to her and it’s crickets, which is BS because supposedly we only have a 30 day window if something is defective. I digress.
Her unit is wonky compared to her outdoor stats and and previous indoor stats. She’s gone through the steps like any new trainer and the initial calibration/spindown. She’s performed an extra spin down just in case when things didn’t work. The resistance seems off. Any over 130 watts makes the resistance feel like she’s pedaling through mud. She’s noticed a huge watt/Kg FTP difference between the two trainers. Which we’ve taken on and off to compare day to day. In races and training on her old trainer her FTP was 185-190 pushing 3.4 for my 20 min. That matches her outdoor efforts. She races regularly as a Cat 2 so the #’s are accurate and no inflated. Every time she’s tried the new trainer she can’t push a race or freeride holding 165-170. Obviously a huge difference. On any sort of incline in game the trainer’s resistance applies so hard she has to stand even at the slightly punch. Her settings in game regarding resistance have not been adjusted from new to old, they remain the same. Any suggestions? Does the new trainer just need to be “broken in” or are there any known issues with the resistance being off or harder than what it should be? Thanks in advance. She’s set the new trainer aside until we get some answers from Zwift or help from the community one so if it is a defect we can return it and two she can’t stand racing where it feels like the brakes are always on.
