I also love the idea of these routes and the expansion of worlds.
But the squeaky wheels get the attention. Lots of riders prefer riding with Coco at steady 2.5w on Tempus with 40km/h average speed so they get 120km in 3 hours.
It’s remarkable we got Alpe du Zwift!
You must be new. Any time hills are suggested a chorus of people pour cold water on it.
Negative reactions to every new idea are nothing new, it is a general problem. In times of (anti)social networks and public forums more than ever. But the loudest are rarely the smartest!
I appreciate your enthusiasm and I hope you never lose it. When I design routes for myself that are not in the game, I usually try to avoid significant repetition of long segments like doing the Grade twice. Using the Mayan/Itza KOM path would be one way to reduce use of the Grade.
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it to you before, but if you design a rebel route and write it up there is some chance that Zwift Insider would publish it. That’s a fairly common way that new routes have been introduced to the game. I can’t recall ever seeing a route suggested here on the forum going into the game, and there have been a lot of suggestions over the years.
That’s fine. Thanks though. I wasn’t planning on it being in a Zrace league event. Just a route that could be in game eventually so just giving out ideas.
“Here’s an idea”
“It sucks because people will say it sucks”
“Why does it suck?”
“Because other people, not me, prefer other things so your idea sucks”
“Yes, it’s all social media’s fault”
“What is?”
“All the negative people here saying the idea sucks”
“But, there’s only you 2 saying this. It’s like you’re arguing with imaginary voices in your heads”
