I rode stage 3 regular (Magnificent 8) and as is ‘always’ the case in Watopia now when riding routes or doing events I had the new mini map with the full profile and progress/distance… then did stage 3 long (Big Ring) and…no new mini map, just the old “here’s sort of what is nearby in an arbitrary direction” version. In looking at strava screen shots from others on the same ride, most of them did have the new mini map - I found only one that didn’t. I entered the starting pen from the already complete previous stage using the Join button with a few minutes to go, which I don’t think is uncommon, no late join. Seems like a strange quirk (programming wise) for it to even be able to present the old map in an otherwise normal setting like that given that I’ve had the new mini-map on all other occasions - I wonder if anyone else has seen this.
What I have seen is if you make a manual turn off a route the new mini map loses the route and goes back to the old view. If you then join a TDZ stage it does not load the new route on the mini map.
Oh good shout @Neil_Ragan I did in fact flip a u turn after finishing the Mag 8 stage as I was cooling down, before hitting Join for the Big Ring stage - so I guess that relegated me to no-new-mini-maps-for-you mode. Seems potentially fixable but maybe obscure enough to not be a big priority.
