Now that would make a good cyclist-gift pizza cutter.
Printable words in this forum fail me!
Yeah, you get to keep what you have.
You just have to upgrade 3 other frames.
Unfortunately, other than Zwift Aero, the other frames arenāt good racers but the lower bikes have easier tasks to do.
I picking the 3 easiest/fastest tasks.
Iāll be upgrading the Atomic cruiser !
Love it
Atomic, Safety and BMX the easiest ones I guess ?
Iām hoping that there will be events or race series soon that allow alternate colors for the SL8 like the monthly zRacing series did for the Dogma when it first came out (Iām going to miss how well that alternate Dogma colorscheme matched my kit choices).
Based on a quick click around, all of these are 100km for the first level:
Atomic Bruiser
BMX Bandit
Buffalo
Carbon
Steel
Aero
Handcycle
The TT is 120 minutes and Mountain is 1000m of climbing.
I donāt have the Safety bike to check.
For fun I just downloaded it on my phone to check out the shop. Still didnāt have it in the PC when I left for work.
Safety is also 100km I see in my garage.
The ZI article about Halo bikes is out and it looks like all but Tron are novelty bikes with no purpose. Oh well. Time to get on upgrading the SL8 and then get working on the Zwift frames.
Anyone want to take bets on how long until the SL8 gets nerfed? Weāve been here before ā¦
As long as I get my 1.75m drops back. =)
The answer to my question, Iāve found on Zwift Insider. Itās gonna take agesā¦ 6 hours riding my Cadex TT bike to unlock the first upgrade, then even more hours for each subsequent upgrade.
Also, if you want to upgrade your Tron Bike, youāll need to fully upgrade 3 other Zwift frames before you can start because the Tron is one of the Halo bikes, except you cannot buy it, like you can the other three.
And than you need to ride the Tron for around 8000km to get all 5 upgrades ā¦
Since Zwift Games with neutralized bikes will apply progress to your chosen bike, race the hell out of those events on the novelty bikes. Do the queen stage every day.
For most of us nothing will change in the short term, like the lightning socksā¦theyāll come when they come. To get a fully upgraded halo bike is going to take years.
Whilst I sort of felt being in a void because after 10 weeks I had my tron bike and by 12 weeks I was level 40 and had all the good road bikes and was saving up for the safety frame and wheels, this undertaking is on a whole other level. It will take me years probably to save up for the upgrades (currently at level 46 and just flat out broke after buying the s-works tarmac sl8)
We didnāt get money back when S5 2020 was nerfed either. It is still a very fast bike IRL (not uphill though).
What will happen is everyone will now ride around on SL8 instead of Tron.
This is my fear. You put hundreds (perhaps thousands hours of work?) into upgrading a bike to the max and then Zwift turn around and nerf it. After all, Zwift did just completely rewrite the performance of every frame and wheel.
It appears from reading the Zwift Insider article about this that unless you had one of the top performing frames you will now be slower than you used to be.
For example, a new Zwifter on the default carbon bike was 19 seconds an hour slower on flat ground compared to someone on the Felt AR. Now that Zwifter will be 62 seconds an hour slower. With these rejigged frames a rider on the Zwift carbon frame would need to do 4 to 5% more power to keep up with a rider on the Felt AR. Anyone under level 23 (the unlock level for the Felt AR) has just had their performance nerfed and not by a negligible amount
Note how this feature has just been released as the northern hemisphere would normally ditch Zwift to ride outside.
They are trying to keep you paying subs during the northern hemisphere summer.
Itās pay to play to win, using your stage 5 upgraded bikes.
With everything wrong with Zwift racing right now, itās not grabbing me for the summer.
