That is not for races now is it ?

Bike upgrade paths is literally the worst idea ZHQ has come up with.

Yall take this out of a Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport development cheatbook???

Now everyone WILL be riding ONE frame; because if they want to have fun, they’ll be reminded every single time that a lesser used frame isn’t fully upgraded.

HORRIBLE, astonishingly horrible, idea ZHQ…

Enough people say they hate seeing the Concept bike rolling around; and now you’ve essentially locked it in to where people are only going to want to ride a single bike going forward forever.

This is not what anyone wants.

It ruins races
It ruins having fun by choosing unique frames once in a while
Potentially might ruin neutralized bike frame group rides

I think it might be the complete opposite effect in that people will want to upgrade lots of bikes so will switch one to another once the upgrade is complete.

For racing yes that could be problematic. They need to make sure organisers have the toolset to control this themselves.

Or just run a bot for a few hours and get the upgrade done for as many frames as quickly as possible

and of course will benefit the heavy users the most and puts new joiners or more casual riders in a big disadvantage in races

Id be more interested on zwift included what they are doing about such things

I wonder why they went with upgrades to the bikes and not just cosmetic things we could earn.
Levels in bikes is the worst idea they could come up with.

Imagine a team with consists of mearly casual riders but still having fun in races and they have to do a TTT and 4 of the 6 riders are at max level 5 and the other 2 are at level 1. Happy times keeping up with your team.

I’m hoping thats where organisers can step it and set requirements

Cosmetic upgrades would be good as well.

Would it be possible to include announcement of reorganized and revamped Zwift’s Women Only Racing calendar in the announcement above? It might help alert women returning from riding outdoors of this exciting new development and help it gain traction.

Garage sorting is mentioned here, which seems like a step forward -

depends the wording has been slightly concerned that it will only remember 2 setups.

“And with Garage Sorting saves your current and most recent ride setup so they’re always ready to roll!”

We really need multiple bike profiles to cover TTT, cimb, aero, rolling setups etc.
Would also be nice to have favourite items that appear at the top. e.g jerseys.

“Upgrade your ride like never before with Bike Upgrades, where you can spend Drops to reduce weight, improve aerodynamic efficiency, and lower rolling resistance.”

Sounds like frame/wheel neutrality for races is going to be even more of a demand, long term subscribers should not get an equipment advantage in races!

Then they need to give organisers the toolset to control such things.

It will basically sort on your most recently ridden frames, wheel sets, etc. it’s not looking like we will be able to create different profiles.

Stupid beyond believe then. WIll be really frustrating if that’s the case of zwift doing the usual of not listening to the community and coming up with their own ideas that miss the mark on what people want.

While that is kind of a nice feature and still worthwhile zwift is crying out for a profile mode in the garage.

Making everyone ride the same frame and wheels is an option, but not being an organiser myself, I don’t know if organisers can set this themselves or have to request advanced setup from ZwiftHQ.

Now if organisers did force a frame/wheel, would it still allow users to use upgrades they bought with drops?

They can’t.

Quite a few things still need to be done by ZHQ events teams. e.g category boundaries. pen start times, power ups, event descriptions

Unsure on the upgrades question. ideally it would be a setting say allow wheel choice but restrict upgrade limit.
