Pro riders are indeed using the loopholes as well. I know of one e-sports racer from UK who was caught using the teleport hack. I don’t know if that person is reported yet.
Also remember how Mr Jeffers got himself banned? Some other users reportedly also banned.
The upgraded bikes are not just a little faster, the speed difference is quite enough to make a difference.
I’m going to throw this back here again as I don’t think many of you understand.
People complaining about cheaters? Please define what you think is cheating and against TOS? Weight doping, yes. Teleporting no matter how many times you do it is not cheating, sitting on the side of the road is not cheating.
Harassment of other users is against the TOS. Just because you don’t like how someone went and achieved an upgrade doesn’t mean they are in the wrong. Going on Strava, anywhere in the community to “name and shame” is against TOS
This isn’t a moral opinions issue. Which a decent amount of people in this thread are going down that road. This is strictly, did the user breach TOS? The community is not the judge and jury here, Zwift is. If you don’t like features of the game bring this to Zwift’s attention and hopefully they can implement something in the future.
I don’t like that people use feathers and attack me on climbs.
There is some valid concerns here people weight doping while teleporting yes that’s against TOS
These Zwift forums are filled with way too many feelings. There’s no feelings in the rules. Either a rule is broken or it’s not. Your feelings and what you think is right does not matter.
It hurts my feelings when someone gets an aero power up and uses it and I didn’t get one.
Edit even if someone is cheating. Harassment is against TOS. You report them and move on.
I’m in the ‘no’ crowd here, as it pertains to your views.
It doesn’t really matter what you ride.
I don’t know if your frame is level 1 or level 5, and I’m not even looking at it, except Tron frames.
All I see is the back of someone’s jersey. That’s where advertising money could be generated.
Is there a Specialized/Canyon/Felt/Pinarello Jersey to wear on my ride? No
Will I be jealous of someone’s level 5 Halo Bike? No
Will I worry that I will lose to a rider with ‘aero’ socks? Highly doubtful.
Even in races, it comes down to my fitness and strategy.
Riding 40 hours or climbing the Alp 15 times, or riding 1600 kilometers is going to benefit me more than gaining a barely recognizable numerical benefit.
( I would work hard to gain a color slider or ‘red’ option on my bikes:)
But, thanks for expressing your views to our community.
If I would focus on anything negative in Zwift, I would take down the level 10 gates in Watopia. In fact, I may start a post on that.
My theory is the best high-end bike will not be a 5% distance benefit over the best “XP/Drops” bike for whatever terrain you’re on. But I guess without knowing which is the best XP/Drops aero or all-arounder to compare against the ZwiftInsiders numbers I don’t know for sure.
Will it be a marginal gain at best? Yeah, over my weekly 100km group ride it will be the difference between 2000 XP and 2100 XP, so not a big difference. In my normal weekly 50-60km pace partner rides it will probably only add 50-60XP. But over the weeks and months maybe that will add up? But I mean they also add drops which at some point might be useful if the upgrades start taking a lot of drops such as the halo bikes etc.
I guess another question I’m not sure about is do you get 5% only on the distance XP or do you also get a 5% bonus on other XP benefits such as arches, spins, route badges, etc. I “guess” it’s just on the distance travelled.
It’s that term though “shady” Is it against TOS or not? Shady is another "well I don’t really like what they are doing so it must be wrong. There’s lot’s of those terms thrown around this thread and others. Reading through a lot of this, your comments are typically the most reasonable.
Elite check marked racers have an additional code of conduct but even that code of conduct doesn’t spell out the rules. There’s a blanket disclaimer that’s worded something like “spirit of the game”
I have spoken to a few people that have been banned. Bans have been overturned in almost all cases.
I don’t get to decide. But there’s a lot of talk on this thread that actually breaches the TOS. All the while people have their pitchforks and torches out raging about people that actually aren’t breaching the TOS.
I don’t see any disclaimer on anyone’s post that says “Well I don’t really like this, but it doesn’t breach the TOS”
Naming and Shaming, going on Strava, leaving comments. Those are all harassment and in breach of the TOS whether it’s done on Zwift or not. And it’s harassment that is unwarranted.
I don’t like it. But it doesn’t matter what I don’t like. If it doesn’t breach the TOS, walk away.
maybe not your wife, but the TOS does mention actions outside of Zwift. Unless your wife turns you in?
Edit to add in the Code of Conduct.
Zwift does not tolerate cyber-bullying, hate speech, harassment, threats, or personal attacks—within the game or anywhere else. If you are on the receiving end of this kind of behavior or see it happening to someone else, do not hesitate to flag it via zwift.com/contact-us, or by using the Companion App. Check out this article for more info.
and that’s 100% valid for any race team to set their own standards.
Yes I’m talking strictly from the standpoint if it truly is a breach of TOS. Yes it might be a moral grey area for a lot of people but moral grey areas aren’t the same as going against the TOS.
People can frame it however they want, just don’t unjustly get the pitchforks out and boo hoo about people not actually breaking the rules. That’s the thing with rules, is they are well spelled out. Either a person broke the rules (TOS) or they didn’t. There’s just a lot of people here making assumptions on what they feel is a rule or not.
The broader picture of this all is that Zwift needs to add some rules. Or put in place game mechanics to limit things like teleporting and sitting on the side of the road. I’m all for discussion of the future of the game.
I’m just not a big fan of harassment in situations where the person on the receiving end didn’t do any real rule breaking. I’m not saying you have done this, just in general there’s a few people that have gone over the deep end a little.
I get that you’re not targeting me, and I get where you’re coming from. But please don’t also tell me what to think about people doing things that aren’t against the rules. If you don’t care about any issues other than TOS rules, that’s fine. But don’t tell me not to care–that’s the sort of thing people tend to decide for themselves, and it doesn’t come across well to tell people what they should care about. That’s my point.
Caveat: I’ll sometimes ask people why they care about things when it seems odd to me to care about them. And if you want we can talk about that. Although a lot of those reasons are explained in all the mess above. But telling people what to care about is another thing.
Replying to myself about how severe weight doping will affect your ZRS seed score.
I just saw someone post the link to the ZRS calculator (ZWIFT ZRS v3 by VirtuSlo) so I thought I’d check it out.
300W for 5 min power and compare 75kg vs 30kg rider we get ZRS of 406 vs 1494. That’s a bit big of a difference so let’s try something a little more reasonable with 75kg vs 45kg and we get 406 vs 860.
If I came across as forcing the issue, well maybe I meant to a little, lol. People can care all day long about what they want to care about. Go ahead. I don’t like when I watch streamers racing indoor and they stand up all the time, lol. They can pedal however they want, I don’t like standing up much.
I do care about bullying and harassment. Maybe my wording could have been softer, totally. There was just some people in the act of discussing about what they care about, they themselves were actually breaking TOS.
If a rule is broken or someone has cheated, that’s even better.
I agree teleporting and sitting beside the road and sandbagging are not cheating or breaking rules but I don’t do it because I don’t want that reputation.
If you don’t want your reputation tarnished in the eyes of the community, then don’t do things that you aren’t proud to admit.
