Mute other riders ‘ride on’ sound

Riding on Watopia today I tuned in to the noise of other riders receiving ‘ride ons’ - bing bing bing bing - it drowned out all other ride noises. I couldn’t tune them out again. I was listening to ride ons being given to everyone around me including big groups riding in the other direction. I found it very distracting and irritating as it was a constant noise with a bing sound every second or so. Could there be a feature to mute ‘ride-ons’ being given to other riders?

This sound is almost constant now. Seems to have got worse since the update. It’s even louder than the prompts in workouts to the point that I now use the app muted.
This means I keep missing my intervals which is really annoying and makes the whole thing kind of pointless to me. Probably going back to sufferfest until this is sorted.

Am currently riding on Tempus Fugit and the ride on jingles are absolutely non stop - literally every other second for the past 15 minutes! Tried changing direction to get away from big groups but no luck.

Definitely seems to be worse since the latest update, hope someone from HQ looks into this as it’s intensely irritating and I don’t feel like I should have to mute the screen to avoid it!

Or - is there an easy way to turn these noises off?

This noise is infuriating! I want to be able to hear my interval beeps while listening to a podcast, instead all I can hear is the constant ride on noise.

Please sort this out Zwift, it’s really unnecessary and is so distracting.

Come on Zwift, PLEASE sort this out! I’ve just finished a 100k and I’ve gone slightly mad! This is the Zwift equivalent to water torture!! Da-ding! Da-ding! Da-ding! Da-ding! Da-ding! Da-ding! Da-ding! Da-ding! Da-ding! Da-ding! x1000!!! Aaaahgghhhh!

Confirmed. How bad? I’d rather be left naked, staked to the ground, coated in honey, while a mix of bee’s, mosquitoes, and then the bears have their way with me…

On my last couple of Zwift sessions I had to turn off my speakers because the constant “ping-ping-ping” was driving me mad - it was like a bad afternoon at a doorbell manufacturers’ convention! Has a recent update increased the volume of this very annoying noise, or are people just handing out RideOns more generously all of a sudden? On my last ride in Watopia it seemed as if almost everyone coming towards me had just received a RideOn perfectly timed to go ‘bing’ just as they passed me. I even started wondering whether Zwift has set up bots to hand out RideOns to everyone passing certain points on the road. Zwift need to mute this dreadful racket except when we personally give or receive a RideOn - I don’t care nor need to know when everyone else is getting them.

The number of ride-ons is totally out of control. Rides are now a constant “bing-bing-bing”. This is insane. And if I turn the sound off, I miss the birds, water, road noise, etc. No way is the cacophony of Ride-On sounds enjoyable to hear.

After riding tonight I’m pretty sure it’s a bug introduced by the last update. As noted by others it appears every single rider coming in the opposite direction is receiving a ride on as they get close to me. When a group goes past it is a horrible cacophony of distorted bing noises. I also noticed I received a lot of ride ons from riders who weren’t in my rider list as they appeared. It may be that we are all now constantly giving ride ons out to each other as we pass in opposite directions.

Just turn off “Game Sound Volume”

You can still hear the birds, other bicycles etc, just not the Ride on Pings

I’ve turned off the game sounds and still get the birds, but would love to still hear my own ride on and XP noises. This is disgusting. It’s mostly on hills when riding near the ride on spammers. I don’t understand the obsession with the spamming, but I’m unaffected if we can turn this third party rideon noise off.

This is amusing - I never ever use audio on Zwift, I always listen to music instead. This morning I wanted to check if a badge had been reached or not, so I started Zwift on my phone - since the UI sis so great, I had to start a ride before I could do anything. And I got a chorus of ride-on bling-bling. Obviously it’s other riders’ ride-ons we’re hearing, pretty loud. The very few times I had audio enable on Zwift, I don’t remember such a racket. So it looks like some recent “improvement”.

This said, it escapes me why anyone would want to listen to Zwift’s audio in the first place.

This should probably be a bug report (pinging @shooj ). (Can confirm, it just appeared with the most recent update and it is unbearable.)

I think the more that people talk about it, the more people may be using this function to annoy people, or, new to Zwift people are pressing the button thinkig they are giving Ride-ons. I turned my sound on briefly in Watopia for a few minutes and its certainly being used more than I can recall.

Hell yeah i agree with this one!

Or maybe limit the amount of “Ride-On’s” allowed in a given session?

I doubt this would be too contentious - let’s face it, for most of us, if we went to our local gym or spin class and sat in the corner incessantly shouting “Ride On” at every passing stranger, we’d expect to be shown the door pretty damn quickly

I’m sure its a bug, it seems to display all ‘ride on’s’ from people coming from opposite direction at anytime during their session? I wouldn’t want to limit ‘ride on’s’ I need those delicious drops!

I don’t think there is any need to see other peoples ‘ride on’s’ when coming from the opposite direction.

I just came back to Zwift after riding IRL and this is definitely something that is new - I don’t know if it’s a bug in a program update, or if it’s just now a bunch of Zwifters are spamming ride-ons all of the time to everyone else. Either way it is terrible. Turning off the “Game Sound Volume” is NOT a good solution - yes, it turns off the Ride On sounds but ALSO turns off notifications for intervals and plenty of other sounds that are helpful and I’d like to hear during my workouts. Zwift: for everyone who finds this super annoying and (like me) is commenting about it on this forum, I guarantee there are hundreds of other people who agree but you’ll never hear from. Some will just stop using Zwift entirely. It’s why paying attention to this kind of feedback (and acknowledging it) is important! Thanks.

I’m pretty sure it’s a bug now after riding the Richmond UCI course. As 99% of riders go in the same direction it was noticeably quieter than other courses where there’s more of an even split. I noticed that every one of the few riders who passed me in the opposite direction got a ride on as they came into view.
