Mute other riders ‘ride on’ sound

I rode PRL Full today.
At times, it was extremely annoying.
Other times, the sounds were almost muted.
So, the loudness of them varies.

It would be great if I can disable annoying sound of RideOn’s from all riders around me and keep it only for Rideons sent to me.

I don’t get it. why is it ringing when someone else gets a RideOn anyway?

Yes! It seems to be louder than before! It’s super annoying! Especially on a map with a lot of riders, it seems to echo super loudy with a super high pitch and it’s constant.
I turned down the Game sound volume to like 1/10 and it’s still too loud, but I can’t here most of the other sounds.
I Zwift on my Apple TV and normally put some music (AirPlay) in the background, now, the ride-ons / kudos sound is way louder that the music. It wasn’t like this at all before!

Please Fix!

just did the update. I was convinced this terribly annoying BUG would have been solved by now. No way ! still the same problem.

Please fix it!!

I would love to be able to mute “ride ons” and nothing else. Espeically since there seems to be a bug currently where large bunches of riders going past you in the other direction drop “ride ons” that ignore the volume setting you have set - I can have the volume on minimum, but these “ride ons” are literally deafeningly loud. Its irritating.

I just turn down my Game Sound Volume.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t the most annoying sound known to man!

Please sort this out.
All you need is another option in the sound menu.
A few minutes coding.
You can have Volume option and also a check box for All Ride-Ons or Personal Ride-Ons only.
I’m really wondering what on earth all these programmers have been doing for the last 6 months.
Please reply to us on this matter!

When I first saw this thread I thought “Noooo! I love Ride Ons!!” but then Zwift got busier and this became more of an issue. I think it will get bad again this winter, unless Zwift does a “simple” fix:

@shooj and the Zwift team, please could you stop the Ride On “PING!” sounding for riders coming in the opposite direction, or at least reduce the volume for these? I really think this change would improve the experience for people.

I think it’s fine to hear the noise when you’re going in the same direction as people getting ride ons but when there are lots of riders coming the other way, you hear a huge amount of high pitched “pings,” which gets too much when it’s busy. Last winter I know this discouraged me from doing “reverse” course rides because the pinging got really annoying.

I don’t really know why you would want/need to know someone else is getting a ride on unless you have given it.

I’d like to only see ride ons I get or that I have given, not too sure in the benefit of seeing other people get them?

Agreed. Rode with the C-bot yesterday and it was a constant stream of ride ons, to the point it was just annoying. I turned the sound down which helped but the constant stream of blue thumbs up was getting to be too much. It would be great if they didn’t show when you turned the HUD off.

I thought Zwift had quietly fixed this but then this week as the number of riders have increased it is back again. It seems that every rider coming in the opposite direction is receiving a ride on which sounds horribly distorted. It’s worse when a group goes by. I had read in a recent thread about some riders enjoying giving constant ride on bombs via the companion app so maybe that is becoming a thing now. I hope Zwift address this before there are 40k riders Zwifting together like last winter.

Since yesterday’s update (1.19.0), the in-game sounds have changed significantly - at least on my iPad (main Zwift device).

No more strident pinging from ride-ons; instead nicely muted blips.
Has this been mentioned in the release notes? I couldn’t find any.

Could it be that Zwift listened, reacted and hasn’t drawn attention to this for some reason?

A (quiet) thumbs up from me, in any case.

Can anyone confirm if this has been fixed in the windows app? I’m thinking of coming back to Zwift.

I ended up cancelling my subs earlier in the year as I mainly used it for structured workouts. This didn’t work with the app muted as I kept missing intervals.

Thanks

Yes Jim, it seems to have been fixed, so thank you to the people at Zwift for fixing it!

They actually seem to have “over-fixed” it and now, if you’re riding in a large group (such as with the pace partners), you’re unlikely to even hear anyone say “Ride on!” Or “I’m Toast!” Which I think is a shame, but I think you’ll be happy with.

Many Thanks for confirming Paul, will sign up and give it another spin.

The other riders ‘ride on’ sound may have been muted, but the new ‘whoosh’ sound for XP is equally annoying.

I think one should have the option of hiding the blue ride ons. Its very annoying. On a group ride it goes on all the time. Whoever is programming is not a cyclist
