Mont Ventoux, Col du Galibier, Col du Tourmalet

Zwift Insider speculates they will be event only for July, then open for free-riding in August. But they want to motivate people to participate in “Tour de France” events for now.

For those wishing to do or repeat their own claims, why not make in a “build your own workout” based on distance and elevation ( rather than power and time), programme your own climbs

I think if I wanted more climbs without the Zwift multi-rider features, I’d rather just use FulGaz, which has a huge selection. Or (if you can get it to work properly) RGT has “magic roads” which are custom climbs with minimal computer-generate scenery.

Still think that would be excellent to have another road to acess the top of the Alpe. Would be great to add variety of courses to people that like climbing. Always going up & down in the same road is a big flaw.

I made this proposed map in May. A coastal road leading to the backside climb of L’Alpe, which could be modeled after another iconic climb, would increase the possibilities of L’Alpe, other than as an out-and-back.

That said, I think France has taken up some of the slack both in long climbs and in flat/rolling routes.

Would be beautful if the Tower had a new connection to the Jungle, and the Alpe had a new road “to the other side”.
Waiting …

You mean modelling Col du Sarenne and then the road going over to Alpe. That could work,

Zwift is fantasy so they could do any climb of appropriate altitude gain, but I love your suggestion. It’s a spectacular road, although I’ve only descended it.

Sarenne would be even better for all those Tacx trainer people with their “road feel”!

I couldn’t believe the “surface” on that road… Maybe it has been fixed up now. Guess I’ll find out later this year when I ride on it, Covid permitting.

Love your idea for the “coastal road”. Would be great for Fondos and events like Evo´s 160km, Audax, etc. And would be a nice setting for the Pace Partners Bots.

As for the climbs … yesterday i did the “Big Loop” and noticed some kind of construction site on the left side of the road. Maybe is a new road (in the final part of The Jungle).
Fingers crossed it´s a road that connects to the Radio Tower.
Would be aewosome!

You’ll get a kick out of this. I think it’s from Nov., 2018.

Cheers, thanks for that. That looks great.

If you search for that thread, you can find a few maps that I and others drew up.

Time passes, and banal routes keep pilling on, but no alternative road to go down the Radio Tower, Ventoux or the Alpe.

Please ZHQ, give the people that like to climb a little more options.

Looks like the idea of new roads for Watopia and France are dead.
So much potential for fun routes.

Col du Sarenne would be a great addition to the Alpe indeed. Same as the Mt Ventoux descend

If it’s not on Min’s personal wishlist, you are probably correct.

Loops are always better than our and back.

Absolutely- Sarenne, Col du Galibier and a little town called Valloire (or something like it). You can loop around in the town and go back. And the top of ADZ could become a little town itself. Put a burger restaurant there as well with a Harley inside the window for added realism.

These rolling flats with gravel sections aren’t appealing- you do them once for the route badge then not again.

I used Ful Gaz on the weekend to ride on Galibier - it was excellent, something different from the usual options.l and just as I remembered it in real life.

I’d like to see more climbs like Epic KOM sort of effort, but I don’t see any need to replicate IRL climbs. It’s a computer game, you get to use your imagine to design a climb as you see fit, rather than one designed to allow cars to get up and over safely with generic switchbacks.
