Running on the long running Future Courses Islands thread. Let’s play with France a little more. Maybe in 2028 this will get some more love too.
Adding in the Malaucene side to Ventoux would make for an epic loop.
I’d also like to see the middle of the map filled with punchy climbs and cobbled sections to create different options for classics-inspired routes.
The rest of Ventoux would be great.
Im not even asking for all three sides. Similar to the Alpe, just two sides to make a loop so it’s not an out and back.
However like my suggestion for expanding Innsbruck, there isn’t much interest.
I’d still vote for something like this.
I agree completely on this
Throw all the UCI Worlds into one interconnected world like this
Well done
That shouldn’t be done because the Strava maps won’t look correct.
The UCI worlds should be kept separate but expanded. Innsbruck and France first since they are the easiest.
Strava maps being correct is a complete non factor for me and probably 99% of people who use Zwift
France isn’t even in France
How many people actually care how their fictional zwift rides over lay real maps on Strava. Game play should take priority.
A lot of people on Zwift forums over the years who all said “but whaddabout Strava”.
I suspect not all of them really cared but probably just used this as an objection to whatever was being proposed, particularly if it involves more hills.
Correct. “France” is mapped on New Caledonia. https://maps.app.goo.gl/7nmMh5djQLNs7nK99?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy
Who did that segment name! Haha! Someone from Sydney I guess.
That was the chosen name in the public competition for naming a new ferry. The government had to choose a different one and looked like fools.
On the topic of France
Why do we not get a France expansion every July?
Especially with Zwift sponsoring the Tour de Femmes?
Nearly all cyclists know that a kinda big race happens in July. It bewilders me that France doesn’t get a chunk of France every July.
They also have the Virtual L’Etape du Tour de France where 6 of the 8 stages aren’t even in the France world (and none in Paris) and the two that are in France are just old routes.
As you can see from this topic with 1 vote, hardly anyone is interested in expansions of worlds unless it is Watopia.
If it was a pancake flat expansion of Tempus Fugit then I could see the votes rolling in.
It is more of the point to France being held in such high esteem in regards to cycling.
And a marketing aspect for Zwift during the Tour de Femmes, “hop on Zwift and ride the same section of today’s stage!!!”
Expanding Watopia, Makuri, and France should be a constant.
Innsbruck could use that last climb of the real life course. But, they won’t.
It seems to be too much work to add another side of Ventoux. It isn’t something fresh.
The Stelvio is a very unique climb. But, too long to flesh it out. (should be a portal soon…if they can fix an internal error).
I don’t think any worlds, other than Watopia and Makuri will ever expand. Eventually, a road will go around the Alp (with maybe a climb thrown in). Makuri should be next. But, don’t expect Mt. Fuji, despite the rumors.
Zwift designed two very different climbs that are very unique. (I rode them and had hoped one of them was being added to Watopia. But, they choose a different design for the ‘Grade’) For now, those two are classified as future climbs.
All these small one-off worlds are a waste of ZHQ resources. Watopia and Makuri should be the focus for expansion. France may still have some potential, but I think Ven-Top had a total of 3 riders for all of 2023
