I don’t think that will provide the same information as the Milestone app, other than cadence and pace. You won’t get ground contact time, foot strike, rate of impact, runficiency, etc. It’s a cryin’ shame Zwift did this.
Of course I know. Pod is using standard BLE profile and can be used in real time in watches or phone apps for standard parameters - which is probably pace, cadence and distance. This is not a problem. What would be good is to access running dynamics metrics + offline running data for running without pod. I think that there is some proprietary interface for that part.
I agree. It won’t supply that.
Too bad
Great, not long bought the Zwift pod and was using the metrics to help adjust my running, now defunct on the new iOS public beta the app no longer works for syncing so assume once iOS 13 fully hits for all users its now useless, waste of money I could have put towards a better solution.
I am super bummed to hear this.
I was coming back from an injury and the metrics provided by the Milestone app really helped me improve my running form, both on the tread and on the road. Since the metrics are already being recorded, why would it not be possible to integrate and display them on the Zwift system for later viewing, just like the milestone app does? Log into Zwift, click view past runs, and see the data collected. I think this would not only solve the problem, but also add a lot of value to the Zwift platform.
I assume the data is being stored on the device regardless, and that sync is just pulling it off and putting it on the app for display. If that’s the case can you allow custom integration so that tech/program saavy users can develop a new way to display/store the data on an app? AKA post some sort of API to allow users to program apps to collect and display the data from the run pod?
I was super excited to find this pod recently, and was super pumped to see the metrics and improve on them. If there is anything we can do as a community to inform you that these are valuable to us runners, please let us know.
I just read this on the iSmoothrun website:
‘iSmoothRun now supports on the phone app full metrics for two new advanced footpods: Stryd and MilestonePod.
“Contact Time”, “Vertical Oscillation”, “Form Power”, “Leg Stiffness” are supported for Stryd while “Stance Time”, “Foot Strike”, “Leg Angle”, “Rate of Impact” are supported for the MilestonePod.’
Is there any reason this would stop working?
This won’t stop working, but of course it works differently from the MilestonePod app.
Anyone here able to send me a location with the Milestone App? I’d really want to use it and bought Zwifts believing they had rebranded it. Can not believe they have thrown away all the goodies of Milestone App!
II found the latest version for Android (3.4.10) on apkmonk. It works well with the pod I bought yesterday. I updated the firmware of the pod firts with the Zwift application on my PC.
Sounds promising! Indownloaded from Amazon Android store - got the App up and running but it could not find the pods. Neigther the one I have upgraded the firmware on, nor the older SW version one…
Lets see if I could find apmonk or the Release info of what I downloaded
Hello,
I have been using Milestonepod app for a while now. I own one pod for indoor and one for outdoor. I have been very happy with these for years.
I will never switch to Zwift app because it does not offer 1% of the features Milestonepod app provided.
Zwift app is made for a totally different audience.
So, PLEASE, Zwift, instead of insisting on making all Milestonepod users very angry at you (you already lost them and you are never going to get them back), PLEASE, release Milestonepod source code and make it Open Source.
Best,
Ben.
how can i update firmware from my milestone pod? there no availble app to update, zwift is not recognizing the pod.
Pull the battery on the Milestone Pod for 30 seconds and then put it back in open Zwift and see if it will connect. After it connects click on the wrench symbol and it will prompt you if there is an update available.
Tried it but no success.
Can’t you unbuy Milestonepod and let them proceed in their former way, and to be used also on Zwift without further degrading Zwift interferences?
I have a sync problem with my pod. When I have finished my run and try to download the data to the Milestone app on my iPhone it stops at 95%. It throws up an error message which says “Timeout expired.” As soon as I get home and my phone connects to WiFi then it syncs ok. Mobile data works fine for every other app on my phone. Any one know what might be causing this?
Hi,
The Milestone App has been working perfectly for me synchronising up my outdoor runs and providing valuable running metrics like ground contact time up until yesterday. Now when I try to connect within the Milestone App I receive a server communication error message? I understand the app is no longer supported but it still worked perfectly up until the other day. The error suggests the server is no longer available which is frustrating because the message above doesn’t suggest the servers supporting the milestone app will be taken offline. I can now no longer access my run history in the Milestone App or synchronise any new running data. If the server infrastructure supporting the Milestone app is to be taken offline could we please have more notice and secondly could I please ask for a final update to the app to make it a standalone application so it stores run history locally on the phone and doesn’t require any login to function.
Hi,
I share these same sentiments. The Milestone app is what gave the pods value. The Zwift apps do not provide anywhere near the level of useful information. I hope the servers are only offline temporarily.
Thank you.
same problem here, last Monday all was fine, since yesterday I get the “server communication error”
Can you please solve this?
100% agree!
