There’s a big thread on Monterey problems, including some responses from Zwift, at macOS Monterey 12.0.1 Zwift crashing
same solution: NOTHING!
For me it’s the same. It’s really annoying. I’ve tried everything. Today I’ve tried with a new system nothing on my MacBook then the system and Zwift. Result 3 crashes in 3 attends. The first after 800m. And no reactions by Zwift in the forum tread. We’re paying every month for a service we can’t use. I think we deserve in minimum a statement.
Ok, this is still happening with MacBook Air that we just upgraded to Monterey 12.2. Can’t believe this has been a problem since OCTOBER and it has not been fixed. Didn’t realize that Zwift was this unreliable. Simply didn’t occur to us to check Zwift before we did normal upgrades. We have to decide what to and weather we should sign up for another training up instead. One that handles software updates like this one. What will happen with the next upgrade, will it be the same problem?
Seems like this thread should probably be merged with macOS Monterey 12.0.1 Zwift crashing
It’s impossible to understand why zwift support does´t work in this problem. I already canceled my subscription
Today my first ride with Zwift. Fresh installed on my macbook pro (non-m1!) My version of Monterey is 12.1 (21C52). When i pressed the “stop workout” button, the app crashed
I am disappointed that Apple’s update to Monterey 12.2 didn’t fix this problem. I have been riding on Rouvy in the meantime.
Monterey 12.2 is also causing my MacBook Pro to randomly freeze Zwift while riding. I installed 12.2 a few days ago and now 2 out of 3 rides locked up Zwift 30-40 minutes into the ride. Also when I was starting to send a message during the ride, I changed my mind and hit ESC to remove the message box and it exited the ride. That is not the behavior previous to this latest OS update.
I got a brand new 16’’ M1 MacBook Pro yesterday and so I did a fresh install of Zwift with latest OS (12.2.1). Mine crashes about 1 second after I hit “Lets Go” from the login screen. I don’t even make it to the full screen mode. Anyone in same boat? I ended up cancelling Zwift for now. Been using it for 6 years now but no point in paying for something I can’t use anymore.
Edit: I contacted support and they said it was because I’m losing connection to my Bluetooth devices?!? I can’t even get to the full screen app which allows me to pair.
I have the same problem. I had to recover my MacBook Pro 16" (2019) to a clean install of macOS 12.2.1 and I cannot even install Zwift on it. The installation screen just freezes on “Preparing to Update”. That is all.
I have an update to my screen freeze issue with Monterey 12.2. I discovered accidentally that if I disconnect my USB-C to HDMI cable to my TV the screen on the game comes back to life. I have been able to “fix” the freezing problem every single time by doing this. I found another thread complaining of the screen freeze on my exact same MacBook Pro 2020 13" i7 and all of them said that disconnecting the HDMI cable caused the display to go back to working again. Problem is that the freezing occurs randomly anywhere from 1 minute into the ride to 30 minutes or more. There did not appear to be any solutions offered other than buy an Apple TV device and run Zwift on that. What a bummer! I’ve been running Zwift on this laptop for 2 years with no issues until I upgraded the OS to Monterey.
This is absolutely the situation I am having on that model MacBook. Downgrading the OS is not a valid workaround since the updates and security fixes in Monterey are required.
Please provide an update.
Same frustrating problem for me. A few weeks ago I followed the steps to uninstall/reinstall Zwift and it seemed to work for a couple of weeks. Seems my computer ran a software update this week (wish I noticed - maybe I swiped update accidentally when I was Zwifting) and now I’m back to the same crashes. Sometimes 15 min into a ride, sometimes less than 2). I race on Zwift, and participate in the weekly TTT’s, but absolutely can’t do this if I’m going to crash. Tried the uninstall/reinstall and it doesn’t help. Need to borrow an iPad now, which completely negates the reason why I purchased my MacBook in the first place (and I ONLY use it to Zwift). So frustrated. This is beyond ridiculous.
I ended up buying an Apple TV because there don’t seem to be any solutions coming from Zwift. Besides the $189 expense, the graphics are crap compared to my MacBook Pro and using the remote with Zwift is a PITA as many others have noted.
I have the the same crash issue in Zwift since last upgrade to
macOS Monterey 12.2.1
Same issue, 12.2.1. Crashes randomly in the middle of the ride and causes a full MacOS reboot…
The issue exists now over 5 months and there isn‘t any update or information from Zwift. That‘s a pity….
After sending many crash reports and logs to Zwift’s support, this is the answer I got from them:

If I see it right, They say that they are testing and testing and testing. Maybe it could be an idea to form a beta test group from this forum treat, because here are enough MacBook Pro 2020.
Secondary: Mostly in this thread it would be spoken about the Hardware Specs. What about the Moment in Gameplay. In my case: Yes, it crashes sporadically, but I can guarantee a crash if I’ll go Alp de Zwift. It can’t be a coincidence.
