macOS Monterey 12.0.1 Zwift crashing

Same issue here. Macbook Pro hard-crashing when in the world after a couple of minutes. Brings me back to the Mac sign-in screen. Monterey 12.1

Treen time on workout after 40min of trainning and crash

Please update this post, the problem isn“t solved!

I had contact directly with Zwift staff. They are working on it.
I will inform when I have some further informations.

I have had this issue (Zwift crashing at random times mid ride on MacOS Monterey 12.0.1) and sent logs to Zwift support. Support says this is a known issue, sent me a link to this thread, and suggested removing and reinstalling the Zwift app as suggested above. I gather this reinstall worked for some people to fix the failing-to-connect issue that started this thread. But has it worked for anybody with the crashing-mid-ride issue that seems to be the main issue on this thread now? I don’t want to waste my time on a reinstall if it is not going to help.

Thanks.

You can save your time to reinstall Zwift. It doesn’t works.

Is it possible to remove the ā€œsolved flagā€ from this post?

I have a 2020 MacBook Pro and upgraded to Monterey 12.1. The same kind of crashes are happening more frequently and I have been in communication with Zwift Support. I have sent them WindowServer Crash Report, log files and subsequent observations. I have reloaded Zwift app twice following the instructions and cleared cache. One of the interesting observations is that in my case I am seeing a lot of crashes at the 10 minute 1 second mark based on ride durations that Zwift shows in my account. That certainly is not random, it has happened 5 times. Maybe it is just poor housekeeping on the part of the Zwift app, but I have let Zwift Support know this. Anyone else experienced this?

Me too… an Intel-based MacBook Pro user, today Zwift ran for about 20-25 minutes and then froze, happened to twice. As seen here previously, the screen will lock and then Zwift has crashed. Submitting logs to Zwift now…

I’ve got the same problem as well and have uninstalled and reinstalled without any joy!

Same problem here. 6 month old MacBook Pro Intel 5 and crashes at random times. Screen freezes for around 30 seconds and kicks me to Mac login screen. I cleared cache and uninstalled / reinstalled zwift and still doing it. Sent log files and crash reports to zwift but no solution…. This is clearly prolific among MacBook users

Hi Bob,

Read your post with interest. I’m having the same issue. Interestingly, 3 out of my last 4 failed rides have been recorded by the companion app as lasting for 20 mins and 2 seconds which is directly related to your 10m1s.
I’ve informed zwift support of the consistent timings and they said they’d pass it to the dev team but disappointed this hasn’t been solved as yet. I can only hope that the more noise made on the forums the increased attention they’ll give it.

Hi I_Kemp,

I have also had one 20 minute and 2 second crash. That certainly is not random, especially since it is different users. Maybe if you contact Zwift Support again, you can mention that another user had the same ride duration. I mentioned the 20/2 along with my multiple 10/1s in my original email to them. Always good to reinforce the observations because this is probably a difficult bug to track down.

Thanks bob, I’ll pass that on. I did have an individual thread running with them but it’s been quiet for a while.

Hi, first time here. Having same same but different. Mac OS Monterey mine runs fine until I do the calibration. as soon as it gets to 37km it hard crashes back to Mac main screen. I have sent an email to support.

What trainer are you using? If that trainer has an app, it is always recommended to use it for calibration instead of Zwift.

Saris H3, it does have a calibrating feature. I find however that after every update zwift does I need to calibrate or when I do a pre programmed ride there are always issues, like it’s too hard or when a high wattage is asked it will only do 130watts… so I have always done the calibrating in zwift.

Zwift advised to try un install and re install… now it won’t even go past the load in page. Anyone have a solution?

I’m having the exact same issue as everyone above.

Initially I was on 12.0 and had the same crashing problem (time-out, screen lock then kick to log-in screen). I then upgraded to 12.1 and still have the exact same issue. I’ve installed and re-installed fully (from the instructions on this thread) a few times now and have the same result. I never noticed the timing - but it’s typically very early on in the ride that the crash occurs.

Following this thread closely.

Exactly the same problem here!

I have had this same issue. I upgraded my computer and now have a brand new M1 MacBook Pro. I have twice done the complete delete and reinstall on the new machine, and I have not solved the crashing, but this work around is what I have been doing and have not had a crash since.
It’s annoying, but i do it Every single ride.

Open documents, open Zwift. Go to activities. Delete any activityinprogress.fit files.

So now after every ride, I automatically do this because for some reason it does not clear out that file. Even though the complete ride has been uploaded. This seems to work, but I shouldn’t have to do that.
