macOS Monterey 12.0.1 Zwift crashing

I have been having the same problems- Zwift say it is a Mac hardware issue even though my MacPro only crashes when on Zwift. They have closed the complaint!
Not good this

I’ve had the same issues, I was running Zwift on a 2020 Intel MacBook Pro without any issues until the Monterey update. Now it crashes as often as it works. I tried the remove/reinstall steps listed above but this did not resolve the problem for me. Today, I tried turning the graphics quality down to low and successfully navigated through a 30 min workout. Whether that’s just today’s luck or a potential fix time will tell but hopefully it helps someone until this can be patched in an update. I just hope Zwift do not consider the issue closed as the thread suggests.

Hi @shooj,

I have the problem again in the meantime.
As I can see, other users also have this issue.

What can we do to solve this?

Please provide a little more context so we can figure out if there’s a common thread.

When does the app crash? During login? Do you make it to the world/route selection screen? Once you’ve dropped into a world? Which world? When you save & exit?

Ultimately - my colleagues can provide a deeper dive into your specific situation offline by teasing out details and having you email log files from your particular computer. For that use the Contact Us link on support.zwift.com

Please understand that when it comes to log files and such - we can’t provide one-on-one assistance on this forum.

Hi Shuji,

Thanks for your feedback. Speaking for me personally it crashes at random. I can almost always navigate the log in and joining the world but then it could crash at any point of the workout. The other day I was riding in London, crashed 24 mins into a workout, I logged in again and managed another 19 mins before it crashed again. The screen freezes, the Mac is unresponsive and then the whole computer restarts. This only happens using Zwift and it’s only happened since the Monterey update. Strangely I have managed to complete rides without it happening so it seems sporadic but it’s happened to me maybe a dozen times over the last 2-3 weeks at different times and in different worlds. Unfortunately, I’d say it crashes about 70% of times it’s being used whereas I had no issues at all before the Monterey update and have used Zwift very happily for 2-3 years. I appreciate my experience of the crashing is probably too random to be helpful in locating the issue but I hope it helps in itself.

The app is crashing random only during a ride.

I haven’t the problem during startup zwift or within the menu.

Thanks for your help

@shooj

3 crashes tonight. twice at the pairing screen when the timer clicked down to zero to take you to the course menu. Got to ride at 3rd attempt and then managed 22.42 mins on a Devedeset workout on the UCI Worlds course before everything froze and Mac shut down. Hope that helps.

I am having exactly same problem and I’m finding support from Zwift to be very poor. Emails to them don’t get a reply and when I do hear back they ask me to repeat the same steps. Not sure why they are saying this issues has been solved. If I make any progress, I will let you know.

Same problem. Using 2020 Macbook Pro Intel I7 with Monterey 12.0.1. After some minutes the app is crashing and the whole Mac goes to ā€œfrozen stateā€. After a while you will forwarded to the Mac login Screen. After Login the app is closed.

Anywhere to answer if the Problem is still open running Mac OS 12.1?

Yes, still crashing on Mac OS 12.1
Stuck on using my iphone 13 for zwifting, very frustrating !!!

And yes, multiple compleet removals of zwift (as per zwift faq) have not helped.

Thanks for update. I can not believe why Zwift do not support this issue as many users are affected and paying 15 EUR each month.
Really bad support!

Same problem. 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5 - 16 gb ram. Running Monterey12.0.1. Zwift crashes anywhere from 10 mins to 70 mins into a ride. Freezes, back to Mac log in screen and no chance to rejoin. This is the only app/program that causes crashes with my Mac. I have tried to complete remove and reinstall of Zwift - no luck. This is a major issue. Looking for a solution.

Hi Shooj,

as you can see, many people have the problem with this bug.
What can we do in this case to resolve the issue?

If the resolution above still does not solve the crash - we need to see have you send in logs from your machine to see where the issues lie.

To send us logs - we need to have you email them to our Support team by using the Contact Us link on support.zwift.com

Also getting crashes after Monterey update - will send crash log. It’s v annoying.

Same issue here.
this only started happening after the update to 1.20 for me.
I’m also on Monterey 12.1.
And i’m typically able to start cycling for 20-30 secs,
then the app freezes, and closes after 15-20 secs, and the mac restarts to the login screen.
I’ll get the log files next time i’m trying to ride and send them in …

Thanks for working on this, y’all. I am not super tech savvy, so waiting till this gets resolved before I update my Mac OS to Monterey. I’m also having some tech problems on Big Sur: Zwift has trouble seeing my trainer; did not ramp up properly on a workout; connection failure while in game. Will try removing Zwift app and reinstalling, to see if that fixes my problems. But in the mean time, no os upgrade for me!

Hi, I’m on an Intel-based MacBook Pro and Zwift hasn’t worked without crashing since I upgraded to Monterey. It’ll run for about 20-25 minutes and then freeze. The screen will lock and then Zwift has crashed. I’ve tried reinstalling twice (using the full instructions from above). I’m happy to send you the logs, but I don’t know what logs you need…

Want to go on record that I am also having the same problem. I had to uninstall Monterey and go back to Big Sur to get Zwift to work. It’s very frustrating that I can’t update my OS. I don’t need more maps or another world to ride in. I need for this to be resolved.

Same issue here. Brandnew Macbook Pro hard-crashing when in the world after a couple of minutes. Brings me back to the Mac sign-in screen. Monterey 12.0.1.
Sent my logs to support already.
