Latest Zwift Release Breaks Stages SB20 Smart Bike

December 2025: Connection Problems for PC and Mac users.

Starting with the December 2025 Zwift Release 1.104.0 , PC Mac and iOS users who use Bluetooth have problems connecting with the Stages SB20.

Bug Summary: The Stages Bike is no longer listed as a Power Source or Resistance controller.

Here’s a description of how to recreate the problem.

  • Turn on the SB20 Bike
  • Start pedalling to wake up the power meter cranks
  • Open the Zwift app on a PC, Mac or iOS
  • Login as usual

You will see the Paired Devices screen.

  1. PC/Mac: Ensure that Pair Through Phone button is displayed indicating Bluetooth pairing is active. This is confirmed when the Bluetooth icon is shown in the upper right corner of the screen. iOS doesn’t have this option, so just proceed. Click the Power Source box to continue.

  2. Power Source Selection: Both Stages power meters are shown. The Stages Bike is not listed. Click on the Left Crank to continue.

  3. Cadence Selection: Both Stages power meters and Stages Bike should be listed. Click on the Stages Bike or Left Crank to continue.

  4. Resistance Selection: Stages Bike is not listed.

Summary

PC, Mac and iOS connections via Bluetooth to the Stages SB20 Bike no longer function correctly starting with Zwift Release 1.104.0. This causes problems for several thousand SB20 Bike users. Several hundred users in the StagesBike SB20 Owners Group on Facebook have confirmed this issue.

A fix for this has already been released. It should be available to you soon, if not already.

I had this problem with my SB20 on Mac M1 Studio machine yesterday. I unplugged the bike restarted it, logged out of Zwift then back in and everything connected. Saw it again this morning and logged in to just watch and was able to connect using the menu. Initially both times Zwift couldn’t find the SB20.

Thanks David. I give that a try.
