Lateral play on Zwift Cog v2 for Elite trainer

Just upgraded the the original Zwift cog to the version 2 Cog with compatible freehub for my trainer; an Elite Suito.

I followed the instructions that came with the cog and consulted the installation video on the Zwift website but I’ve found the cog has some lateral play once installed. I say the cog, what I actually suspect is the play is coming from freehub and the trainer, almost as if a spacer is missing.

I looked at the Elite freehub I removed from the trainer and it had a very small rubber washer which the Cog’s freehub doesn’t.

1. Is there supposed to be 2-3 cm of lateral play on the freehub? Someone on another forum suggested there should be to allow for chain alignment.

2. Is there some sort of washer or spacer that should have been included that is missing? I doubt this is the case as there is no mention of one in the manual or online

You may have to disassemble the Cog assembly and verify you have all the correct spacers…should be a thicker spacer on first (on the axle), then the Cog parts and another thinner spacer last. My first one, factory installed on a Kickr V6 was all messed up (incorrect assembly) and missing the smaller axle spacer.

The other item is to ensure the hub is installed all the way. On the KickrV6, I had to play with the spring holding the pawls on the Hub to release the pawls to collapse and allow full insertion.

2-3cm (not mm?) of play is ridiculous. That could not serve any good purpose.

You do have the option to remove the Cog from its included freehub and install it on the freehub that came with your trainer. See this guide: Assembling Your Zwift Cog
