Anyone else feels the same that the last 2 expansions felt a little disappointing? The Grade was all climbing and the coastal expansion was almost all flats. In terms of riding dynamics, it felt lacking.
Scottland was an amazing expansion. Rolling Highland is a favorite among many riders.
Paris gave the nostalgia feeling for those that been to Paris and France.
Makuri Islands Expansions was huge compared to the recent 2.
Not really. Coastal portion of the map is probably my favorite part of the entire Watopia. I like scenery and the roads over there. With The Grade it’s even more enjoyable. On the other side I don’t think much of Paris. One of my least favorite routes.
Maybe, the climbing on the grade wasn’t really serious climbing, just shorter stuff put together to link existing routes.
I would have preferred bigger climbs to link up with AdZ which a number of people proposed numerous times on these forums. I rode all the Grade routes then didn’t ride them again - while the big climbs I would ride multiple times.
I wonder how AdZ and Ventop ever got built, given how steep they are (and long).
I was not a fan of the Coastal expansion. I find it extremely boring.
The Itza connector is a decent climb. The Grade is just stupid.
The only reason I rode the last 2 expansions in Watopia was for the route badges.
I prefer Makuri. Lots of variety there.
I like Scotland as well but it’s another tiny world that could use a lot more roads. I hope they expand it. It does seem that novel roads are very expensive for them to develop so as long as that’s true I’m always happy to see those small additions tacked on to larger worlds because it creates more/longer route options. The Grade itself is not important to me but having another way up to the Epic KOM area is nice and the other two KOMs they added are nice as well. There are some good and useful routes created by the coast road addition. As long as the additions are so small I prefer to tack them onto the larger worlds.
Not for me. I think The Grade is a great addition. I like that I can ride Oh Hill No twice in an hour (lunchtime). I can’t make it up AdZ for example, and riding to the start of the Epic KoM eats into any time left to ride up it.
When I wanted to do the Le Col x Strava 8848 challenge last month, I did most of my elevation in a couple of weeks of Oh Hill No repeats, so it was very welcome.
I did do one load of 600m up Ven Top, but it’s a far more lonely experience than Oh Hill No.
