One thing I’d like to note as a long time Mac user is that Apple, not Zwift, dropped all developer support recently for any version below 10.16 (or so) after the release of Sonoma MacOS 11 version (14). Thus any program built after the release might not work with older versions. The framework programs used to run applications drastically changed. Sadly, the only way to run these programs is to upgrade. Open Legacy will attempt to install what your hardware will support without completely breaking everything…
(also, Zwift is not the only runtime video application this broke, I work with several that completely broke on my 2012 laptop and I decided to recycle it).
Same for me. Worked fine before this last update. On Mac. 2012.
Thanks heaps mate. Glad it’s something that could be relatively easily fixed.
As an FYI, even though my system is old it’s runs Zwift beautifully. Ultra mode and at a great FPS. Plus running apps in the background all on a great screen. Hopefully I don’t need to throw it in e-waste and spend $$$ any time soon.
Same here, my “old” iMac runs Zwift very well. The trouble is more what @James_McKenzie_USMES refers to above, where decisions by Apple make it ever-harder for old versions of MacOS to be supported for reasonable effort by developers.
Thanks Zwift for making the efforts you do, and please give us a decent bit of notice when the writing is finally on the wall so we can figure out alternative setups.
Amen to all of that
I am also having issue pairing my trainer. I am unsure as to whether it is the trainer or the tech. My phone is unable to update to ios16. Do you think this would be the issue?
iOS 15 is still supported by Zwift so that should not be a factor… They dropped support for iOS 13 and 14 but as far as I know everything that can run 13 or 14 can also run 15 so it should not have made any hardware obsolete.
Everyone on this thread - please note we have released a Mac-only patch version 1.58.2 that fixes this issue. Please update at your earliest convenience, and let us know if this fixes it, or not.
Thanks for your patience!
@Thomas_Wright1
Start saving for that rainy day now. There - you’ve been notified.
Thank you - just done an initial test, and the power and cadence is working normally again. Can’t Zwift today, but will report back if there is anything unexpected tomorrow.
Fair enough
@Thomas_Wright1
Thanks for being the first to alert us to this problem, then looping back to confirm the fix! We appreciate you!
how do you get this patch as mine now has very little resistance in free ride and in erg mode 5W is the target - frustrated!
The issue reported in this thread, and the fix in game version 1.58.2 applies to macOS 11 Big Sur + Wahoo Kickr Core + firmware version 1.3.17
I looked at your server logs and I’m seeing you log in simultaneously from an Apple TV and an iPhone11, and an iPad 5. Don’t do that. Concurrent logins will create your symptoms because the server thinks you’re still using device A while you’re using device B.
Pick one device, and uninstall the Zwift main app from the other things. Always end your Zwift session by save-and-close (or trash-and-close). Additionally - on any of the mobile OS (tvOS is a mobile platform) take the additional step of force-closing the Zwift app. Swiping an app into the background is not the same as force-closing.
Hope this helps you!
Thanks - all the other devices were tried in desparation to try and get this to work - it has always been used with just Apple TV and the wattbike but now cannot get resistance to activate in free ride mode - I am doing nothing different to the last year’s worth of use so cannot understand it.
scrolling back in your server log history - I confirm that, and still seeing logins from your AppleTV without a proper log out in between. A proper log out is recorded when you save and close (or trash and close). If you don’t - the server can still think your previous session is still open. The other cause of this is if Zwift is crashing and you don’t have a chance to properly end your session, but you haven’t said you’re crashing - please confirm?
Please try this: power down and reboot the Apple TV. While you’re at it - please also power cycle the Wattbike. It will take a few minutes for those things to power on again, which should be enough time for our server to recognize you’re done. Log in to Zwift and let us know if that clears us your resistance?
No crashing occurs - have tried as you have suggested multiple times. Powered everything down again - spinning out again at 115rpm with 50-60W!
Let’s get you some one-on-one assistance and ask the chatbot to connect you with an agent who’s familiar with Wattbike and AppleTV. I am not the best person to read through your specific game logs files.
The issue seems to be resolved after the patch. Thank you very much for the resolution! Ride on!
