My first Kickr replacement was a ‘brand new bike’. Like really brand spanking new. Bikes after that were refurbished. Got to give them credit: I was impressed at the new bike first replacement.
Switched to the Tacx bike, and am on my third. (Save that box, or ‘pay’ for advanced exchange)
Good point, but all I know is that the LBS (Local Bike Shop) that sold TWO Kickr Bikes at the same time, one to me and one to another local rider; mine died. His, supposedly, is still running with no issues. I don’t know the guy, but the LBS told me his name. He’s a local bike racer so I’d imagine he either rides it to death, or only rides it on bad weather days. Hard to tell. They said he wasn’t having any issues at the last time I asked.
Yes, some are solid, no errors, and some just fail.
Does anyone have any maintenance guidelines for the bike to keep it running quietly and smoothly. I know to take pedals off, clean and grease the threads and put them back on, but anything else needs doing?
Same thing happened to me yesterday. Unpacked, set up connected to zwift. 5 mins smell of electrical burn and all friction lost. Reset and done again with Err 17 code. Wahoo/bike shop replacing.
How do you remove the plastic? I undid three small screws at the base and one larger one nearer the top, but couldn’t see how the cover could come off? Thanks.
Since yesterday left shifter does not work any more. No way to get it running. Kickr V1 , more than great 10.000 km.
Now thinking of another brand, because riding on single speed makes no sense to me.
Did you talk to Wahoo support about it? They do sometimes provide support for out of warranty equipment so I would ask even if you are not entitled to a remedy.
Not yet, it just happened yesterday. As i noticed i am not the only one. From other posts, i do not see a clear reason, why the problem appears. Sounds as if wahoo has no idea what happened. It looks like the fix is just a try, by replacing components. I am not ready for such a journey. I want to ride and not work on a trouble shooting.
Kickr core would be an alternative.
I had the taxc bike before. They have a very weak spot. The crancks get loose and destroy the fittings. If you can push over 1.000 watts and the crancks get loose slowly the axis are destroyed.
Totally reasonable approach but if they fix it for nothing then you can sell it much more easily. They might also offer you a discount on a new trainer.
