Jet Black Victory

Nope, not using Companion App. I tried what you wrote: Turn off Bluetooth and Mobile Data on my phone. Did not help. Play controllers work about 10% of my rides, the rest it is just cycling through disconnects, reconnecting.

I am going to (waste my life’s precious time) contacting Zwift support, again, I already did, just got a link to a standard “Typical connection issues” page. I may need to file for return I guess? Can’t accept spending 800 EUR on the Zwift Ride and have a terrible time riding as the play controllers don’t work.

Ive received my replacement unit and got about 100 miles on it. Ride is much smoother and no vibration. Have run comparison with my power pedals and they are within 5 watts.

I had similar issues - my Zwift handlebar would disconnect mid ride (and switch off), which would result in my ride being ruined as I had to get off and re-connect.

After about 3 weeks of ‘troubleshooting’, Zwift sent me a new bar. In the limited testing I’ve done with it (just had surgery on my foot, so off the bike for the next week or so), it seems to work fine. I was missing Haptic Feedback for a start, but that was my fault for not updating the firmware.

Just get onto support and try and get them to send you a new bar - which should fix the issue.

Still trying to get them to fix a loud click / clinking noise when pedalling… but hopefully we can get there before I’m back on the bike as it’s really annoying!!

Did anyone used the Elite Rizer with the Jet Black Victory yet? Couldn’t find anything regarding compatibility yet. I’d like to know if it’s possible to keep the wifi connection and the Rizer on at the same time… or over bluetooth…?

Jet Black support confirmed to me prior to purchasing that the victory was Rizer compatible. I’ve not tested it myself though.

Ahh… came here to see if anyone else was having that (though it’s more of a clunk than a click for me!)

My first unit didn’t, but this one does. Really unhappy with the entire experience, is properly messing with my training. Don’t even want to ask them for another replacement as I’m not convinced they know what’s causing them yet… seems to just be hit or miss if you get a duff unit.

I had this on my play controllers with Apple TV using companion and I’ve been doing a restart of my appleTV before my rides and that eliminated the issue.

Not elegant but it’s worked.

Looks like there is a stable version 4.15 released. Had a ride today and no issues.
There is still the “small” issue where if you free wheel it takes about 10 seconds for watts and cadence to read zero. Not a major issue but it would work best for Zwift descending function.

Hi all. I wanted to update my experiences thus far. I’m in the US, MN - pretty close to their USA operations. As a part of the 1st shipment, I dealt with the firmware issues up front - and the vibrations.

Mostly at this point they’ve been focussed on resolving the vibrations, and with that in mind - they sent a second trainer.

The second trainer had the same issues - so, after a delay - they decided that they wanted me to send my first trainer back to base, in order to repair and upgrade the trainer. They didn’t elaborate on what that meant, but they promised a 48 hour maximum turn-around.

After delivery of the trainer at their base, I waited a week. No response - so I sent an email. A few days later, an appology and promise to resolve.

Then another week went by. Another, more intense email from myself - and another apology, this time blaming a lack of tools and parts.

Another day - and they’ve replied, telling me they’re sending a NEW trainer from their latest batch that apparently resolves all vibration issues. They informed me this trainer was inspected by their technicians.

Who knows where my original trainer went

So, the 3rd trainer arrived this morning. The belt is riding to one side on the large fly wheel, and is rubbing on the plastic. Manually rotating the flywheel in the hopes the belt would level out hasn’t worked.

I’ve replied with the details to them. I don’t really want to make any further adjustments until they’ve replied again.

Their support (at least in the US) is completely inept. I have no idea how they’re going to successfully support this country moving forward given the experiences I’ve had so far.

Just upgraded (thanks for the notification) and all I can say is “don’t panic”. Hopefully the following is just unique to my devices (Lenovo tablet Android 10 (yes, old)) but to save others from thinking they’ve bricked their trainer here’s my experience.

First attempt to upgrade, it detected the upgrade, prompted to start, and after starting failed. Second attempt, it prompted me for ‘Victory or Volt’ and after answering Victory it did the upgrade. But subsequently the JetBlack app, whilst saying connected, wouldn’t show any Watts or cadence in a workout. Panicked and got Zwift on laptop out and in full Zwift everything seemed okay. Rebooted the tablet and now the JetBlack app played game (showed Watts and cadence and allowed a spindown calibration).

Hopefully just a once off and things are now working as expected for you?

The Victory does not have a pivoting rear axle. My concern in using this combination would be wear on your dropouts and the potential for the rear axle to work itself loose.

4.15 so far has been the worst update. Installed just fine, both Wifi and Bluetooth completely dropped out within a 10km route. Couldn’t see it at all on both my ATV and phone. Had to disconnect the power and reconnect it (twice!) before it would appear. This happened a few times while my rage was building more and more.

That was the breaking point for me, contacted JB support asking for a refund. Up until this point it was only wifi drop outs, got around this by using Bluetooth and switched off my steerer to avoid the Bluetooth limit on my ATV. This thing is a fricking nightmare between the vibrations, the squeaking and the constant drop outs.

Time for a Kickr move

I can hear rubbing on mine, I could have sworn the first one was basically silent (when it wasn’t vibrating).

Edit - Tried to use it again tonight, it’s a wreck, even worse every time I use it. I’ll try and post a video later.

4.15 seems fine. As I said the upgrade sent me through a panic loop but that may have been just my kit. And the classic switch it all off/ switch it on again fixed everything. Did an hour and a half ride tonight and it was faultless.

JetBlack had me re-adjust the belt, basically moving it into alignment by removing the side cover. This worked in my case, its aligned now and doesnt rub. It hasn’t really resolved the vibrations I feel tho.

JBV clunking noise video: youtu.be/jSdB1DPc4EU

(For clarity, that’s definitely the trainer rather than drivetrain… I put the cassette back on my original “wheel on” trainer and it only had the usual chain noise / tyre friction.)

KK Vid… basically only the noises you’d expect: youtu.be/aaTO4Iwdh7I

JBV rattling noise video: youtu.be/XuU5O1ENiIE (starts being noticeable a couple of seconds in, then very noticeable around 20 seconds)

Got an email from JetBlack yesterday saying the UK second pre-order wave is delayed - and they expect to be shipping the first week in March. The original date was “Mid February”, so not really much of a delay considering my order was placed at the end of November.

I’m sitting on the fence a bit as to whether this is going to be an upgrade to my Kickr V5. Virtual shifting will be native instead of using QZ and WiFi seems to be ‘almost’ fixed for most. Still seems to be a lot of QC issues reported though. Maybe that’s the usual case of people are happy to write about flaws, but rarely write how good things are?!

I received an email from JB that stated the antenna on the early shipment is the issue with the Wifi. They will replace the board with an updated antenna at my convenience. I’m choosing to ship it back (I’m assuming @ my expense) in the Spring for a board replacement.
The Bluetooth is working OK so I’ll use that this winter and hope I have the option of WiFi for next indoor season.

I thought I was upgrading from the V5 (with QZ and Cog) to Victory however I don’t think it actually was. Jetblack wouldn’t accept a return due to lack of a box so am basically stuck. I dont need Wifi, etc. Only reason I did upgrade as I had not figured out cog / qz at that point when I placed order.
