Today I raced the Coastal Crown loop (the last race of ZRacing series in December). My rider avatar got pulled far off to the left, so I was unable to draft the group on the flat section of the route. There was a red screen displayed to the left of the avatar (see screenshot), not sure what that means. I also noticed that even though I was riding at 3.5 W/kg, I stayed behind riders with less power output as seen in the screenshot. I was riding at 3.8-4.0W/kg on the Mayan KOM climb, but I was unable to pass a rider that was riding at 3.5 W/kg; and he eventually passed me when he used a power-up. I used mine earlier on the same climb, but I didn’t get a gap that I expected (at this point I was putting off 1 W/kg more due to the feather power-up). The screenshot of the results shows that I averaged 3.8 W/kg in the race which was the highest of all racers but I only finished 7th (for example the 2nd place avg power was only 3.3 W/kg). Can someone please check on this issue?
The results still shows a green lightning bolt, so the fit files haven’t been processed by Zwift Power when you took the screenshot. The wkg for shorter intervals can change after the blue bolt.
So it’s hard to say for sure, but if you look at the other riders around you, they have higher variability, (the colour in the bar) which means they varied their power throughout the race more than you.
This could be because you were stuck with no draft, or it could be they were more efficient only punching power up hills and easing off downhill.
In addition you have to take into account air resistance. Parts of the Mayan KOM are quite fast and so aerodynamic drag is working against you. I notice you are 183cm tall. If the rider ahead of you was 175cm tall then they will go faster.
Watts/cDA is often more important than Wkg. Also bike choice matters.
Wkg isn’t the best measure of speed. Race in 1st person view and keep an eye on your KPH, rather than wkg.
As @David_Galbraith mentioned, it appears something is wonky with your steering. The red wall you’re seeing means that your steering device (not the game’s software itself) is activated and trying to steer you further left (the red wall indicates that you can’t go any further).
Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I need to check my Zwift controllers what’s wrong with steering or not use them in the race. Looks like the left steering controller has an issue.
Actually last few rides I’ve had this occur on kickr bike as well, I’ve been stuck steering to the extreme left. I just kept riding because I wasn’t in a race, was on TT bike and just wanted to get the ride finished.
Probably unrelated but thought I’d mention it in case anyone else noted similar.
