Getting the aero lighting socks that give a reduction in CDa by sharing an account with others so you can finish the challenge at an unrealistic rate, and then using them in a race sounds like cheating to me. You are well on your way to getting the aero socks, much further along than you should be. Does that mean you have cheated or gamed the system in a recent race? Perhaps not, but once you get those aero socks will you use them in a race knowing that you didn’t do all the work to earn them?
I’m sure you can see how this is unfair, and glad you have said you will stop sharing your account. Sadly this is only the tip of the iceberg, and cheating to get upgrades is going to be a huge problem now.
Reminds me of the days of EPO in the pro peleton, if you aren’t willing to cheat/dope then you will struggle to stay competitive.
That was always the way - people would take whatever measures needed to get Tron as fast as possible or to unlock the better bikes fast - eg how people used to game the climb portals getting the big XP bonuses at each banner. Or the level up bots.
The only solution I can think of is to make races all with set performance for each bike. So no matter what you choose in a race, it will have the max performance that can be unlocked for that bike. Then everyone has the same state of play. Same with the special power up socks - they don’t work for races.
What if a parent and a son or daughter are sharing an account? That’s probably innocent enough but still same result and also not supposed to happen.
Yolo, I didn’t know that you were interested in racing.
Your original post simply stated that you did not find the socks were functioning as expected
I merely pointed out that if you violate the terms of use then use the new options, that would be cheating.
Cheating would be dishonorable.
I couldn’t find your ride history so I don’t know if you race or not
Your user name was difficult to lookup.
When it was stated to be wkg it was ridiculously low. Now that it turns out it’s an FTP multiplier (how does someone who understands the platform make that mistake?) it seems to have gone a bit far in the other direction.
I’m okay with those numbers. It will lock away some of the higher levels of effect from people who don’t have sprint-type power, but I don’t think that’s a big deal. That can be trained for, at least for many people, if they want it. I know a lot of triathletes (just one example) who never ever ever do sprint training and might never hit 3.2*FTP, but I’m okay with that. It will also keep the screen less flashy on a regular basis.
Hey, there is a guy on YouTube who states he has found a loophole for up grading the TT bikes or any from that has a “timed” goal
He selects TT frame, enters an event by late join and walks away.
The timer will continue to run even though he is not riding.
He must initially pair a power source (no couch potatoes) but after that, he does not have to produce any watts to fulfill the requirements.
He doesn’t get miles, drops or XP.
He states he is not sure if it’s cheating.
He says it’s up to Zwift to close the loophole and his channel is Titanium Ben.
To game the distance portion of the unlocks. By coasting down the ADZ over and over after you teleported to the top.
One of them dropped his weight dramatically to get to the top of ADZ way faster than normal, therefore gaming the elevation portion of the challenge. Then remaining at the top so his buddies could all teleport to the top over and over.
This was happening while I was there and they were all having a good laugh about it in the chat.
Both of these are not new loopholes, they’ve been used for years but only just getting visibility because of this challenge.
I agree, I’ll shake it off but, Zwift can do something.
Last year during the Big Spin, you didn’t have to pair a power source and folks (me included) could get multiple spins by late joining.
This year they closed that loop or at least made it more difficult.
They need to refine that process and not let the ride timer run if there has been no power for a specific period.
Figure out the longest legitimate Coast (down the Al or Ven Top ) and let that be the limit.
Joining a Zwifter sitting on top of the Al, if now power after a certain time, then auto close the ride.
There are several different issues that we are discussing here.
In the short term Zwift can make it to where if you’re not putting power in, you’re not getting drops ,XP, miles or credit for time.
Already ,if you’re coasting down the app, you don’t accrue any drops.
You do get XP and you do get miles and you do get time.
That’s why I said they would have to set up a specific time limit where these would stop after a period of time.
But the person who has smashed themselves up ADZ should be allowed to coast down if they wish to - they’ve done the work for that distance.
Just prevent teleport to the top of ADZ, maybe only allow teleports to 300 or 400m elevation from the start. Or don’t allow the descent distance to count unless you already crossed the start line.
And prevent weight reductions of more than 10kg per day so folks cannot use that to game the elevation part of the challenge.
