Nothing particularly eye-opening. Some of the very famous big distance riders do way more than 3.5 hours of Zwift per day and are also well on the way to completing this challenge.
Yeah, I went with that 4w/kg number because it’s the max you can get per hour, and then I just did the math there for 18 days. If you rode 6 hours/day for 18 days, I think you’re down to needing ~2.3w/kg average.
I have some friends who rode the Great Divide Mountain Bike Trail last summer, took about 6 weeks. If you did that and logged into Zwift at the same time, you’d get the aero socks by the end ![]()
Thanks for the comment, I must admit that not all the miles were done by me alone.
Most of these comments seem to be irrelevant to the possible bug report.
Personally I never understood the power levels in the info from @Eric-Schlange-ZI that Jason shared since those values don’t appear to be relative to FTP, or are they?? ![]()
If I’m dim and can’t get it, OK, but God help the typical user if that’s the case.
Clarification would be a bonus.

Well…all unrelate to bug report, but I responded. I’m not going to respond to some of the unkind queries. I don’t need to modify anything, just a lot of people to ride to make it happen. I’m not a native English speaker, so I may not have expressed myself exactly,
Isn’t this a violation of Zwift’s terms of service?
Got the correct info from Zwift, and updated my post. It’s based on multipliers of your FTP, like the fire socks. Here’s how they work:
- Power < FTP * 1.5: No Effect
- Power >= FTP * 1.5: Sparks and Tire Halo (both Lightning & Aero Lightning Socks)
- Power >= FTP * 2.1: +Tire Sizzle Flash (both Lightning & Aero Lightning Socks)
- Power >= FTP * 2.7: +Full Aero Lightning Effects (Aero Lightning Socks Only)
- Power >= FTP * 3.2: +Lightning feet (Aero Lightning Socks Only)
Sorry didn’t read the terms before playing, the account will be for me alone from now on.
For what it’s worth, I’m sure you aren’t the only person with multiple people using the same account. ![]()
That makes way more sense than the wkg multiplier!
Rumours floating around suggest at least one of the top distance riders might be doing the same, two people riding on the same account to keep ahead in the distance stakes.
It’s only a rumour though.
If account sharing resulted in an unexpected FTP value on your profile, that might explain why the lighting effects didn’t work properly.

There is a guy on the Zwift riders FB page that has earned the socks.
He stated it only took 70 hours at 3.6 w/kg.
So that’s over 3 hours a day, every day since it was announced? Definitely more time than I have!
I wish this would be flagged as unrealistic performance and the account be banned from racing similar to the racer who was found to use a Bot to obtain a Tron bike.
Multiple users on an account or a robot is clearly against the spirit of racing and those accounts should never be allowed to race.
Ride, work out - that’s fine.
The cheating is so rampant.
Yes YOLO, you have ruined your account and reputation as far as racing is concerned.
Now that you’ve brought attention to the races, please prove that I cheated in the race and watch your language
I didn’t use a different person or bot for the races.
You wouldn’t say that if you were a strict man.
Also I suggest you should attend live indoor races or just don’t, and use the same trainer & same zwift bike, that would be fair enough
