Introducing Ride On Shockwave [1.60] [March 2024]

It’s one of those features that people would be fine with if it had been in place when they started, but it’s a change so it’ll get pushback. Plus others think that a change like this means that their priority thingy isn’t getting worked on, which is a big assumption to make.

Didn’t know there was such a thing. No wonder I couldn’t understand the upgrade. I wonder whether this controller with cause problems with steering controls on my Wahoo Kickr Bike.

When just using a iPad I can’t get it to work with the “Ride ons”. Do I need to use the companion ?

In the game on the iPad you can give ride-ons one at a time by selecting someone from the nearby riders list and tapping the orange thumb next to their name.

To do multiple ride-ons to nearby riders without selecting them, you would need either the Companion app (tap the white circle in the middle of the map) or you can use the Zwift Play controllers.

Hi Poul,

Do you know what the ride on button does on iOS?

Thanks

The only options are companion app map screen or play controller

If you mean the thumbs-up icon in the emotes menu, that just makes a noise. It does not give a ride-on.

Feature request for @shooj please eliminate the “Ride on!!” and “I’m toast!” and “Drop the hammer!” emotes from Zwift entirely. Half of users ride with Zwift muted, the other half are annoyed by people mashing the “ride on!!” button in the start pens, and the third half are confused by what those buttons do.

I suspect I’ll just have game sounds off forever

The “cleanup” of emotes was not very good. Along with having the UI/UX guy improving the end-of-ride experience that person also needs to fix the in-ride companion app buttons.

I haven’t heard almost any “Ride On!” vocals in the pen since they redid the Comp App, fwiw.

While I wish they would give us back the old way of scrolling through camera angles, I’m happy the vocals are buried in a menu.

Ring. Ring. Ring.:joy:

I saw someone who was leading our group of around 10 riders on the Zwift Games Epic 2024 ride this weekend use the elbow flick and slowly make his way to the rear of the group.
Later, climbing out through the jungle, I lost the group, falling back around 9 seconds, and made a solid 90 second high watts effort to catch them, and as I caught them, he gave me a wave.
First time i recall seeing both of those in a single ride.
