I am lost on this

I have a PC I have been using for Zwift for years.

As I tried to return to Zwift this winter, every time I start the app my computer looses internet connectivity. Webbrowsers wont work etc etc. The second I turn off the app, the internet connection is restored.

I have done the following:

-Deactivated firewall

-Deactived Windows Defender

-Removed and reinstalled all windows, drivers and apps

-Made this comptuers IP a DMZ on my router

Its not a mesh network, and not a ton of stuff connected. I just dont know whats going on.

What happens if you connect the PC to your phone as a hotspot, to eliminate use of your in-home network?

Works on a hotspot yes

I think you ruled out the game as the cause. It sounds like some kind of security system was triggered by it. Either in your network gear, or a policy on the PC that affects one network but not the other.

One more thing to try… connect the PC to a VPN before starting Zwift. Does that work?

I don’t have a VPN readily available. What I think is interesting is that any other computer in the house can run the software just fine. It seems to be specific to that computer.

I just can’t figure out what’s going on with that particular computer. Especially after disabling every security protocol I can find

That’s a useful sign that the problem isn’t in the network, good troubleshooting.

Doing a clean install of Windows where you delete all the partitions on that machine and start over might very well solve it if the mystery lies somewhere in Windows or other software on the machine. Removing any security software other than Microsoft Defender sometimes helps as well.

Hi @Justin_Moffatt_4604, welcome to the Forums! I’m Francisco from Zwift Support.

After completing the steps Paul suggested, please try making an exception in your firewall for Zwift rather than disabling the firewall entirely. This approach is mentioned in our guidance and has helped in the past for other Zwifters.

Ride On.
