How do you change worlds without exiting the game? I’ve noticed at the end of a planned ride it says continue or to to a specific course Zwift has chosen. And what do you mean about contributing elsewhere. Contribute to what? And how do you change back to Everest challenge? Doesn’t it always stay in the background? Maybe I’ve wasted a. bunch of climbs
How does the Avatar descend? I thought you had to spin the wheels or you would stop?
Depends on the gradient, initial speed, if there are others to draft, your weight etc. The Alpe is steep enough that once you accelerate into a supertuck at the top (not sure if you even have to do that), it should go all the way to the bottom without pedalling.
Had no idea… and what is the benefit of doing that. Do you get extra points for the descent?
Yeah, you get some free XPs.
You are not changing worlds. The idea is to change the background challenge. You stop at the top of AdZ I guess. Once stopped I guess you change to a different challenge for the descent in order to utilize (contribute to) the distance for either the California or Italy Challenge. Then before climbing again, stop and change back to Everesting.
I am not sure if the default challenge always stays in the background. I have yet to find this out. I intend to try it tomorrow. I was only advised to do this by a colleague who has already got the Tron bike. I also think I have wasted a bunch of climbs!
By the way, if you let your avatar descend without pedalling, you do not gain any drops, so just by ticking the pedals over slowly, the drops keep accumulating.
You can not change worlds but you can change challenges, bike frame/wheels and avatar kit anytime.
Just touch or mouse click the screen and you will get the menu button on the lower left corner.
Click the menu button.
Some of the options only open if your avatar in at a halt.
IE, you must stop to switch frames.
You can also press “A” or “T”.
One is the shortcut to the pairing screen and the other is to the menu.
I think the pairing screen immediately stops your progress so it makes for a faster frame switch in a race.
You might not accumulate drops, but you do accumulate XP towards leveling up which is the main reason most coast down the decent before ending their ride.
Thanks. I didn’t know that! There is obviously a lot I still need to find out, so it has been beneficial to share this advise over the forum!
The non-Everest challenges are not really worth that much, I wouldn’t bother switching back and forth considering the trouble and the risk of leaving it in the wrong challenge.
I don’t bother with the descent to be honest. And I’m scared that you said it’s the easiest! It was hard work for me.
90 minutes is not an extremely slow time! It’s very good for anyone that’s not fairly serious rider. You have nothing to be ashamed about with that time. Just keep at it and you’ll get better. And always ride back down the hill. It’s free Experience points and I think it’ll get you nearly 200 from the top to the bottom.
