Alpe d'Zwift + lead in

I’m doing a ride, then decide - I want to do Alpe d’zwift.
How do I transition from the place I’m at to Alpe dzwift — it really doesn’t matter if it’s alpe dzwift, I just want to go somewhere else. For this example it was alpe dzwift.

I found I had to

  1. end my current ride
  2. save ride
  3. at the "who’s riding screen’ I need to “login”
  4. go to “just ride”
  5. select the ride I want to do
  6. zwift takes me to the “ride” I’ve searched

Is there a better way to go from one place to another?
All I wanted to do was 3 different types of sets

  1. easy
  2. up hill
  3. medium effort

This is only a workout i’ll do a few times so I don’t want to spend the time in setting up a specific ride / route / workout.

Do I always have to do the Alpe d’zwift lead in?
I want to skip the lead in and go directly to the UPhill portion
I don’t want to spend the time getting to the hill, I just want to do the hill

It’s part of my workout and the leadin messes with my flow.
I don’t want to create a workout/route.

In short: not easily, no.

However, if you post a description of the ride (eg 10 minute ramp, 2 × 15 @90%FTP with 5 minute rest, then 30 minutes at 65% of FTP) or a graphical representation of it, I’m sure we can come up with a route or two where you can use the terrain to get something close to the intervals you need. :+1:

ETA: or you could just do your ride on Road to Sky :man_shrugging:

I’m afraid not. Road to sky quickest way to get there.

Use the jungle section as a warm up, it’s only a few KM

About 10m30s for me. Perfect.

It takes 7 minutes to ride from the Jungle pens to the foot of AdZ, using Road to Sky. It’s good as a warmup. If you want to attempt to ride up AdZ at a fixed erg-controlled power, it’s easy to set up a workout (either within Zwift, or using a third-party site like zwofactory) to do, say 15min free-ride and 60min @ 280W, then hit Tab at the foot of the hill to advance into the constant-power stage.

I wanted to know if I can skip the lead in.

Let me ask this a different way:

  1. IF I’m on course/route/road A, what is the fastest way to get to course/route/road B
---- I’m on road/route A, oh I want to now go do Alpe dZwift – how do I get to Alpe d’Zwift?
  2. Can I choose a location on course/route/road B to start from or must I ride from the beginning of the course/route/road.
---- I’m riding on Alpe D’Zwift – I really like the part that’s after corner 21, can I “transport” myself there? or do I need to ride from the start?

@Jam_Jamboree you can manually navigate over to AdZ from anywhere in Watopia, no matter which route you originally chose for your free ride. Just familiarize yourself with the Watopia roads/map and you’ll likely soon find yourself being able to do it from memory and not need any reference.

how do I do that? am I required to navigate from corner to corner to then get to the hill? isn’t there a way to select where I want to be via the app?

No there is not. For Alpe du Zwift you either do Road to Sky or pick Jungle Circuit and do a u-turn, then turn onto the climb.

If you just want a climb quickly you can also pick Road to Sky and do a u-turn immediately, then go up Epic KOM Reverse.

hmmm, that’s interesting — I can pick Road to sky - immediately do a U-turn and I’ll go up a hill. I like the sound of that — I’ll try that tomorrow.

If you haven’t done Mountain Route that’s another good one with not a lot of flat road before you start climbing

Ven-Top in the France world has a very short bit of flat before climbing also.

You could try your luck with teleporting to whichever Robopacers are on routes that pass by the Alpe (Sugar Cookie and Big Ring) but you may end up even further away than you already are.

I’ll check that out.

Tried that and it didn’t work as I was hoping for.

I’ll give that a try

That didn’t work for me — I’ll try again

Wee use to be able to do that, but it stopped.
Previously, the join rider would show if they were climbing or not.
You could jump into Ventoux or the Alp.
It should be that you select route, then join a rider on said route.

If there is a regular group you know who rides on ADZ you might be able to join them if you can organise when they are at the turn off to ADZ.

Otherwise, if it’s just workouts you are doing you could probably just make some workout with gradients and manage that way.

I used to do workouts in old PerfPRO Studio that were just a set gradient for X amount of time and smash myself on that. In the middle I’d set a flat part for recovery then after set another long section at 6-7%.

It was my hill training when I didn’t have hills nearby.
