Yes please on gear display for the SB20! Been waiting for 2 years.
Please make a priority for stages bike SB20 gear display within zwift game. I abound as well, we wait that since a long long time…
Just keeping this thread alive… I think all of the SB20 users would really love to see this while using Zwift.
@James_Zwift any update on this?
There must be a boat load of SB20 riders arriving since the massive price drop
Lets hope Zwift can see this from the ANT+ and BLE connections from Stages devices and might one day put a few hours of development time to fully support this great bike with steering and gear info.
Keep alive
@James_Zwift ?
Since the date of the first request for this feature how much development time would this require not very much I would have thought. A screen display for all Indoor Smart bikes gearing could have been designed including the Wattbike which is already supported.
This feature would be great. Zwift, please consider adding it. Thanks!
I think this would be best served through 2 different developments:
- Indoor bikes publish both ANT+ and BTLE shifting device profile
- Zwift adds the shifting device profile support and display
This way we’re not limited to custom implementations and all users with such devices, including Shimano di2 and SRAM AXS users would benefit.
This would also allow us to use a regular head unit as the gear display, even if Zwift’s own implementation is not yet there (other priorities). And since you need a second recording device for your second power meter for racing (don’t get me started) you could use your head unit for the same task.
I think this is more on Stages, Garmin and Wahoo to implement the profile than Zwift…
Disagree on that to the point that the info is transmitted by Stages already. FulGaz has implemented the gear-display pretty cool since roughly 1.5 years now.
I agree that a common approach would be more easy; and Zwift commented once they are sorting out how to do this. Probably they are still stuck in this process.
The issue is: when I bought my Stages SB20 two years back there was the saying that a gear display will get implemented into Zwift soon, Stages has approached Zwift to do so. And as FulGaz demonstrates, it is possible. Pls see also above the link to github @BooX shared with us.
A gear display in Zwift would ensure some consistency in training, I am always puzzled which gear I am in…
@James_Zwift: any news?
Interestingly I see from a slowtwitch article they have a SB20 in-house, an Atom (and looks like an AtomX) Kickrs, etc etc a so its not like they have no visibility of what some bikes have or not.
Agreed on Zwift needing to implement a suite of more advanced metrics and controls, gear info, steering, button inputs, power balance etc etc. I’m all for Zwift dictating the requirements and protocols for these - we (the users) would then be pestering the manufacturers to get these things working, more than Zwift.
I see FulGaz a bit now, and got to say having info on which gears I’m in (which I’ve mapped the same as my TT bike) is really interesting for me, knowing where I’m strongest etc
How about also for kickr bike users? Could we also get a gear display?
Ful Gaz has this feature.
If they just break the gear display for the Wattbike, I’ll be satisfied. Equality for all.
Yes, agree - this is the perfect solution. You don’t have it, I don’t have it. Detente.
So Stages and Zwift are running a promo on the bike and a year’s subscription for a crazy 1400$.
Does this finally mean we are getting gear info and steering control??? After almost 3yrs?
Holy moly… incredible cheap!
I paid way more …
I paid full price at the beginning 3 yrs ago.
Got to be honest. Still think it was worth it. It’s been rock solid for my training.
But at 1400$ that’s crazy. Just wish it was fully working with Zwift.
I paid almost the double ( got one of the first in Denmark )… at least I just managed to sell it again for almost $1400

Just adding my voice to the chorus, especially with the latest deal there are going to be a ton of new SB20 users looking for a home (Zwift, Wahoo, FullGaz, etc.) and this would go a long way to retaining those users.
Just adding my +1.
I just picked up a Stages SB20 with the recent promotion including a year of Zwift and I was very disappointed to find that if I want to run Zwift on my phone I won’t be able to see my gearing. This seems like a serious oversight (both for Stages and Zwift) and it’s pretty shocking to see that this feature was requested almost 3 years ago and hasn’t seen any progress.
I’m an experienced developer myself and this is the sort of thing I think should be a priority, especially considering the huge QoL benefits for what I would say is a relatively low development time investment. If the Zwift team doesn’t want to make this a priority then where is an API so an interested 3rd party like myself can implement it?
