Because of the new update with the steering getting more prominent, could it finally be?

Here’s to hoping!

There is really only 3 smart bikes out there at the moment - how hard can it be to implement gear display and steering for these…

It’s frustrating indeed; as @Leonardo_Nascimento (and others) have mentioned before, it really shouldn’t matter how many types of smart bikes are out there if they just implement the shift profiles - then every application that wants to display gear status just writes their integration once for each transport protocol. Job done.

Has there been any recent update to this request? Looks like it’s not been a priority for a few years now???

For Zwift (to me) its seems support for the SB20 additional functionality is dead - almost 4yrs now - if it hasn’t happened by now, its never going to happen. Event stages themselves have posted videos on how to fit the Play buttons to the SB20 - even they have given up!

It works enough to say its fully supported, and now they have their own gearing cog, buttons and the like, the SB20 is just another trainer.

Hi @shooj, hi @James_Zwift,
any news out of the developers tribe whether we may expect a gearing info and/or a utilization of the buttons natively in Zwift?

Indievelo has support for SB20 extended features, including an on-screen gear display. I’m going to try it out tonight!

Hi @shooj, or any other Zwift-teammate,

is there any chance to get an indication whether all SB20 owner may see a gear indicator implemented?

I see from the SB20 user group that IndieVelo has SB20 gear info displaying now.

At this point it’s past being amusing that Zwift hasn’t incorporated this.

That’s all the platforms I know of, that support the SB20 with gear info. All EXCEPT Zwift now…

A bit off-topic, but maybe interesting for other SB20 users as well: I tried out indieVelo with the SB20 and did not found the gear-indication working; I was also unable to get the L-/R-balance of the two powermeters displayed. I paired: smart trainer = SB20, cadence = SB20, HR = my Polar and left Powermeter disengaged as it is intended for dual-powermeter recordings (but not L-/R-balance) as per help info. Any idea or suggestion to get this working?

You only have one source of power measurement so you should not attempt dual recording. You would need power meter pedals if you want to dual record.

The SB20 has dual power meter…
You can even tab into both with another client/app, and simultaneously having the total transmitted to Zwift.

Yeah it has a left and a right crank arm power meter with the left transmitting the data for the right, and then it has the bike that advertises itself as a power meter but that simply bridges the data from the crank arms. I’m not aware of a way to dual record with it separating the left and right crank arms’ data, and I’m not sure how that would be useful for any kind of verification that you could not get by simply recording once from the left arm and getting the data for both. For L/R balance it could certainly be useful. Anyway since this is not the indieVelo support forum, anyone interested in that should probably head over to the StagesBike SB20 Owners Group on Facebook. There is a previous discussion of dual recording there (which resulted in DQ).
